A fairly short description on each style, with constuction notes, color suggestions, diagrams, etc, shouldn't take too much space, and that would give the newcomer you give it to some good options on making good starter gear. When you do get it worked up, let me know. I'd be interested to see it, and pass it along to my baronial and kingdom hospitalers. Speaking as a newcomer, some actual pictures (though perhaps a little more expensive) would be very helpful and go a long way towards eliminating the "gosh that is a pretty gown Lady X has on, I want one just like it" (even though the gown is OOP) confusion which hits the newcomer and causes many of the "authenticity" problems. Trust me, Milady, it would be more than 'a little' more expensive. I work for a quick-print firm, and I can tell you, charges for putting photographs in a booklet are not cheap. Also, photos are notorious for losing detail when copied, even when you screen them for photocopying. Some good, clear drawings and diagrams would be much clearer and easier to glean information from. The trick, of course, is to make the information clear enough that those who are not garb Laurels can make sense of them. I'm an apprentice seamster (sp?) myself, and I'd vote for diagrams as well. I guess the best medium for showing photographs of costume is the Internet, but even that's not perfect - I find most photographs lose clarity when scanned in. Incidentally, I'm uploading some articles on simple costuming for beginners, as and when I get the time to convert them. You can see what I've collected so far at http://www.weylea.demon.co.uk/farisles/begin/ ( or go through the home page at http://members.aol.com/farisles ) I'd welcome any suggestions and comments.
