When playing an RPG, we like to use miniatures, as well, but the tried-and-true whiteboard and grid leaves something to be desired. Something about being left with squiggly red and blue lines indicating the Ultimate Doom Temple reducing the impact somewhat. Inspired by the cardboard buildings that ship with Mordheim, I began searching the 'net for similar things that I could print out. I found several (link list after signature), primarily they are meant to be overlays for DungeonQuest and HeroQuest, but they work quite well. I'm currently working on massaging what I've found so far into mix-and-match'able tiles, and I'll put them up on the web when I finish. I've only been able to find one site with printable fold-up paper buildings (Hi Fitz! Nice work. Oh, and the military stories brought back a lot of funny memories). Anyone have pointers to more of the same? For any genre? These are great fun. My bad =) I suppose I should have clarified that what is especially cool, IMO, about these things is that they require almost no work and no expense at all =) A graphics program (got it), a color printer (ditto), some folding (all fingers intact), some glueing (yep) and yer done (wahoo!). That said, I do love building wargame terrain, but I haven't had the time (or workspace) in quite a while. Something about the lingering primer smells, the kitchen table being taken over too many times for too long, and the nasty odor of melting foam under influence of spray adhesives has gotten the activity banned by my mate until I can find a proper workspace. *chuckle* Deykin ###### From: "Brian" Newsgroups: rec.games.frp.dnd,rec.games.frp.misc References: <395B9EE6.88302A2E@my-deja.what-do-you-think.com> <01bfe202$8250ab40$a36a02d0@john---sandra> <395BAAD8.7A9C6CC9@my-deja.what-do-you-think.com> <395BB3EF.A85F5D85@my-deja.what-do-you-think.com> Subject: Re: Gaming Scenery Lines: 22 X-Priority: 3 X-MSMail-Priority: Normal X-Newsreader: Microsoft Outlook Express 5.00.2919.6600 X-MimeOLE: Produced By Microsoft MimeOLE V5.00.2919.6600 Message-ID: Date: Thu, 29 Jun 2000 23:02:35 GMT NNTP-Posting-Host: 24.10.30.86 X-Complaints-To: abuse@home.net X-Trace: news2.rdc2.tx.home.com 962319755 24.10.30.86 (Thu, 29 Jun 2000 16:02:35 PDT) NNTP-Posting-Date: Thu, 29 Jun 2000 16:02:35 PDT Organization: @Home Network Path: chonsp.franklin.ch!pfaff.ethz.ch!news-zh.switch.ch!news.nextra.ch!news1.sunrise.ch!news.imp.ch!news-spur1.maxwell.syr.edu!news.maxwell.syr.edu!news-peer.gip.net!news.gsl.net!gip.net!newshub2.rdc1.sfba.home.com!news.home.com!news2.rdc2.tx.home.com.POSTED!not-for-mail Xref: chonsp.franklin.ch rec.games.frp.misc:11369 Well..I was going to suggest foam..but you got it covered, se if you can get some of the old Squad Leader game maps..(yes, they have a grid on them) but the have a 50-meter hex size if you want to scale it. In this manner you can have a strategic placement for your party and you can use a second map for the hex/building you are occupying. > > That said, I do love building wargame terrain, but I haven't > had the time (or workspace) in quite a while.
