She went to Amazon.com to see if there were ever any more published and of course found a boatload. She browsed around and, based on the info & reader reviews there, she decided to get him books 5-8, 8a, 8b, and 9a for Christmas. She knew I was a big EQ fan so asked me if that's what I would recommend. So here's what I told her: definitely get 5-8 and 8a. I told her 9a was good but it is set in the "past" and her son might rather continue with the thrust of the story that progresses forward from 8a; and that 8b is good but the last story is set after some events in other books and won't make much sense until he reads those other books. I told that 10, 12, and 12a are the next ones I'd also recommend getting, to follow the story of Cutter & Leetah. (So then I had to explain that the 11 series is the side story with Ember and the 13 series is the side story with Suntop and Dart but I didn't even try to explain why to skip the 9's... frankly I am confused about that myself) *Then* if she gets 8b it will make sense, and her son will be all set for when "The Searcher and the Sword" comes out. I think I've got her convinced to buy the whole 5-8, 8a, 10, 12-12a, and 8b thread. I'd like to get people's comments on this recommendation, though, did I miss anything? ###### Lines: 15 X-Admin: news@aol.com From: azzichseb@aol.comp (Azzichseb) Newsgroups: rec.arts.comics.elfquest Date: 02 Nov 2003 19:29:49 GMT References: Organization: AOL http://www.aol.com Subject: Re: Order of Reading Message-ID: <20031102142949.18720.00000098@mb-m29.aol.com> Path: redlance.franklin.ch!pfaff2.ethz.ch!news-zh.switch.ch!switch.ch!news.mailgate.org!news-spur1.maxwell.syr.edu!news.maxwell.syr.edu!in.100proofnews.com!in.100proofnews.com!cycny01.gnilink.net!cyclone1.gnilink.net!ngpeer.news.aol.com!audrey-m2.news.aol.com!not-for-mail Xref: redlance.franklin.ch rec.arts.comics.elfquest:896 Linda wrote: "...she decided to get him books 5-8, 8a, 8b, and 9a ... told that 10, 12, and 12a are the next onI think I've got her convinced to buy the whole 5-8, 8a, 10, 12-12a, and 8b thread..." Does anyone else think that the reader's collection number sequence thing just ended up a bit confused? -------------------------------------------- Fairlight - azzichseb@aol.com --------------------------------------------
