Not because I think the story lines have gone down hill, far from it! I have limited space where I live, and storing comics is not really something I am able to do. I can however store them on my hard drive without any issue. I was hoping that one day Warp would release PDF versions of the comics or something like that so I could read them. I also know that there is a great worry about piracy of those comics, but I thought it might be worth a try to see how it goes? While piracy is an issue, practicality lessens the threat (few people will download a multi-MB color PDF file and then attempt to print out copies to sell). Mostly, the bottlenecks are time, and also the fact that we do not yet have high-speed access here. I'm still sensitive to the fact that many people who go to www.elfquest.com don't have high-speed, as well. ###### Lines: 29 X-Admin: news@aol.com From: wolf031877@aol.commotion (Flashfire) Newsgroups: rec.arts.comics.elfquest Date: 12 Jul 2002 01:09:57 GMT References: <110720021207307603%rpini@elfquest.com> Organization: AOL http://www.aol.com Subject: Re: Online Elfquest Comics Message-ID: <20020711210957.16687.00000067@mb-md.aol.com> Path: chonsp.franklin.ch!pfaff.ethz.ch!news-zh.switch.ch!news.mailgate.org!news-spur1.maxwell.syr.edu!news.maxwell.syr.edu!news-out.nuthinbutnews.com!propagator-sterling!news-in.nuthinbutnews.com!cyclone1.gnilink.net!ngpeer.news.aol.com!audrey04.news.aol.com!not-for-mail Xref: chonsp.franklin.ch rec.arts.comics.elfquest:313 I wonder - if y'all do eventually give something like this a try, what of the possibility of setting it up such that the stories could be downloaded as a zip file or something like that, for a small fee of a couple bucks or so? Perhaps you could have a full-sized page or two up as an example of how it'd look. Granted, at a couple bucks it wouldn't be a big money-maker, but it'd be something. I know high-speed access is an obvious issue that would need to be dealt with, but you could have a few ways to go if and when something like an online comic is looked at more seriously. They have to be ordered from abroad to a non-local bookstore and the shipping is a killer. Imagine just being able to download it... amazing thought. I do prefer the printed version, but would rather have it on my PC than not at all...I could imagine there are other northe Europeans who would also welcome it and these countries are quite computerised with many broadband computer users... ...Spruce
