I have "The Hobbit" graphic novel (bought about a year ago). The cover says "illustrated by David Wenzel". On the inside it has the folllowing information: "published by HarperCollins 1991" and "the contents of this book were originally publishedin three volumes in 1989 and 1990 by Eclipse Books" (yes, it has more info than that, but nothing relative for this post). This novel has 134 pages and you really get to see the story of the Hobbit in vivid color. I also have a three-part LOTR comic. The comics might have been made using Bakshi's film as the origin. The story starts and ends at the same time as that film, but there are some differences that I like. You get more poems/tales: in Bree in Gandalf's letter regarding Aragorn, Beren and Luthien (you even get Morgoth drawn in it), poem from Boromir's dream as it was in the books. Those of you who have checked the "Bakshi's LOTR" thread will know that I have this "thing" for poems/songs/tales from Tolkien's books :) Back to the comics, the inside cover says that my copies were printed in Italy (1979,1980,1981, so a comic a year). The artist signature (or whatever it is called) says "Bermej" or something very similar. It only appears on the cover and in the second comic also on the inside cover. The first comic has the hobbits, Gandalf and some nazguls on the cover and ends at the ford of Rivendell. The second comic has the Fellowship fighting some orcs in Moria and it ends as Frodo and Sam depart for their leg of the journey. The third comic has Frodo, Sam, Gollum and a nazgul riding a fellbeast on the cover and ends with Frodo, Sam and Gollum leaving the Black Gate, Gollum telling them about the stairs and Sam asking what comes after the stairs (with Gollum telling: "We shall see. We shall see.) I don't know if this series ver got another part, if it did I have never seen it (or heard about it). I would very interested what Tolkien comic people own/have read, so that I would know what to look for. Oh, "The Hobbit" is in English, while the LOTR (all three parts) has texts in Finnish
