Obviously the writers didn't know anything about the story, and in their haste to jump on the hype bandwagon, they made some glaring errors. It would seem that a stupid media is becoming international in scope. Not a reassuring thought. Of course this begs the question why a TV magazine (I assume this is something like TV Guide) is doing articles on movies in the first place... ###### NNTP-Posting-Host: 218.186.17.171 Newsgroups: alt.fan.tolkien,rec.arts.books.tolkien Date: Mon, 19 Aug 2002 01:21:52 +0800 Message-ID: <191C91BDFE8ED411B84400805FBE794C29646A4B@pfs21.ex.nus.edu.sg> Sender: "Khoo Wan Sing,Joy" From: "Joy" References: <49ktlu0044sbqirpaaug98u5nk5pc030sq@4ax.com> <3ac4908.0208180916.13f2f352@posting.google.com> Subject: Re: Another one who did not read the books Lines: 11 X-Priority: 3 X-MSMail-Priority: Normal X-Newsreader: Microsoft Outlook Express 6.00.2600.0000 X-MimeOLE: Produced By Microsoft MimeOLE V6.00.2600.0000 Path: chonsp.franklin.ch!pfaff.ethz.ch!news-zh.switch.ch!news.imp.ch!news.imp.ch!news-spur1.maxwell.syr.edu!news.maxwell.syr.edu!newsfeed.stanford.edu!paloalto-snf1.gtei.net!news.gtei.net!columbine.singnet.com.sg!peony.singnet.com.sg!pfs21.ex.nus.edu.sg Xref: chonsp.franklin.ch rec.arts.books.tolkien:92618 "David Sulger" wrote: > Of course this begs the question why a TV magazine (I assume this is > something like TV Guide) is doing articles on movies in the first > place... Because over here in Europe all TV channels since about 15 years broadcast the their program info on Teletext. So TV magazines (what you would call TV Guide) over here have had to diversify. They usually have an Cinema and an Music section and often today also an Internet section. Plus a few interviews with celebrities/stars (TV, Cinema, Music or otherwise). The one my parents have even calls itsself "media magazine" since about 2 years. -- Neil Franklin, neil@franklin.ch.remove http://neil.franklin.ch/ Hacker, Unix Guru, El Eng HTL/BSc, Programmer, Archer, Roleplayer - Make your code truely free: put it into the public domain
