What author/editor name should one look for? As the contents (other than a couple of forewords) are entirely Tolkien's work 'The Tolkien Reader' is published under his name. What author/editor name should one look for? Actually, _The Tolkien Reader_ is nothing more than a handful of short books by Tolkien sewn together in one binding (and with a bit of an introduction by Peter Beagle). They each even keep their own page numbering, which can be rather confusing at times (looking down and seeing "7" at the bottom of the page right in the middle of a book is a bit odd). It was published during Tolkien's lifetime, but that's not particularly significant: to the best of my knowledge no changes were made to the included texts. (According to the publisher's note, the reason for the volume was that its contents had not previously been available in paperback). Anyway, as others have said, Tolkien is listed as the author of the book. It's relatively easy to find in used book stores, in my experience, though you may want a newer copy. Steuard Jensen
