No wonder Norway has the world's highest suicide rate; it always looks like Christmas there. I have enough problems fighting black depression 365 days of the year, without a special day to highlight my misery. And people are so especially nasty this special time of year. Nastyness in stores, nastyness at home, nastyness for all the world. In our rabid, canibalistic rush to celebrate our untold joy, we're ready to do anything, anything at all, regardless of the bloody corpses in our wake. And charity, don't forget the charity of man toward his fellow man. I can remember as a small child going with my mother to the line outside the Salvation Army where she proceeded to pathetically beg them for a coat (ragged or not) for her wee tot (that would be me). The "soldier of GOD" informed her there were no more (no room at the Inn, alas), though they could be plainly seen through the window behind him. It turned out those were for sale, and not to be given to the scum. Instead, we received a chicken the size of my little fist that had started rotting sometime in the preceeding decade. Halleluia!
