We know that Sauron numbered his soldiers: `I'll give your name and number to the Nazgul,' said the soldier lowering his voice to a hiss. `One of *them*'s in charge at the Tower now.' And we know that the chief Nazgul was numbered 1: `... They've done in Number One, I've heard, and I hope it's true!' And despite Sauron having any number of people in his forces, it was the Nazgul who were used on the covert operation to retrieve the Ring; So we have a set of elite secret agents numbered 001 to 009. And that being the case, we know the name of at least the one numbered 007. Oh dear, I'm now imagining a throne room high up inside the Barad-Dur, with Sauron sitting behind a desk, the Nine all standing in a row being briefed, and Shelob in the outer office busily hammering on the typewriter. Or the late lamented Desmond Llewellyn demonstrating the proper use of a Morgul-knife to a bored ringwraith, who obviously isn't taking it in... -- John Elliott "Now *pay attention*, 001..." ###### From: "Morgil" Newsgroups: rec.arts.books.tolkien References: <967331670.29140.0.nnrp-09.c2de7091@news.demon.co.uk> Subject: Re: Names of the Nazgul Lines: 17 X-Newsreader: Microsoft Outlook Express 4.72.3110.5 X-MimeOLE: Produced By Microsoft MimeOLE V4.72.3110.3 Message-ID: Date: Sun, 27 Aug 2000 04:01:38 GMT NNTP-Posting-Host: 194.197.65.35 X-Trace: read2.inet.fi 967348898 194.197.65.35 (Sun, 27 Aug 2000 07:01:38 EET DST) NNTP-Posting-Date: Sun, 27 Aug 2000 07:01:38 EET DST Organization: Sonera corp Internet services Path: chonsp.franklin.ch!pfaff.ethz.ch!news-zh.switch.ch!news-ge.switch.ch!newsfeeds.belnet.be!news.belnet.be!news.tele.dk!194.213.69.151!news.algonet.se!newsfeed1.telenordia.se!algonet!newsfeed1.funet.fi!newsfeeds.funet.fi!nntp.inet.fi!central.inet.fi!inet.fi!read2.inet.fi.POSTED!not-for-mail Xref: chonsp.franklin.ch rec.arts.books.tolkien:26436 John Elliott kirjoitti viestissä <967331670.29140.0.nnrp-09.c2de7091@news.demon.co.uk>... > I had an idea this evening... > So we have a set of elite secret agents numbered 001 to 009. I hope the new LOTR movies NG will appear soon, so I can ask: Is Boromir going to be replaced by a Ringwrath???!!! Morgil
