I've never really gotten into MERP, myself. There were never all that many products for the line available around here anyway. Much of the material was certainly not canonical, and I know better than to try to use it for references here. I did play the card game that ICE released some time ago, but like the RPG references, the stuff was hard to find. It may have been very non-canonical, but certainly fun to play. >One thing I have wondered: there are not >many writing to these newsgoups. After all, Tolkien's been dead for about 27 years now, so there really isn't a lot of new material to discuss. With what material is available, there's really only so much the group can discuss before going over old ground again, and it seems that a lot of topics have been discussed ad nauseam here. One can only go on and on about, say Balrog wings before the subject gets stale. It's either that or they were all chased away by the Flame Wars. --Dave ###### Path: chonsp.franklin.ch!not-for-mail From: Neil Franklin Newsgroups: rec.arts.books.tolkien Subject: Re: RPGs Date: 10 Apr 2000 19:16:35 +0200 Organization: My own Private Self Lines: 35 Message-ID: <6usnwt6fm4.fsf@chonsp.franklin.ch> References: <38F10521.30C61381@mappi.helsinki.fi> <743-38F16EA1-37@storefull-255.iap.bryant.webtv.net> NNTP-Posting-Host: chonsp.franklin.ch X-Trace: chonsp.franklin.ch 955386995 556 10.0.3.2 (10 Apr 2000 17:16:35 GMT) X-Complaints-To: news@chonsp.franklin.ch NNTP-Posting-Date: 10 Apr 2000 17:16:35 GMT X-Newsreader: Gnus v5.7/Emacs 20.4 Xref: chonsp.franklin.ch rec.arts.books.tolkien:16965 orius@webtv.net (David Sulger) writes: > Tamim Khawaja wrote: > > >What I would like to know is how many > >of you play or played role playing > >=A0games. > > I'm one of the role players here. And as game mechanics we actualy play RuneQuest rules. So much for mix and match. -- Neil Franklin, neil@franklin.ch.remove http://neil.franklin.ch/ Nerd, Geek, Hacker, Unix Guru, Sysadmin, Roleplayer, LARPer, Mystic Use a WIMP (Windows Icons Mouse Pulldowns) interface - or get one with a CLUE (Command Line User Environment)?
