Arwens? Awefully high hemline there. 3) There seem to be different types of orcs. Flat faced, thin pointy eared ones (regular orcs?) and larger more muscular large jawed orcs (Uruk-hai?) 4) What is that creature in the computer screen? The main screen has the green skinned model but the little window has a black skinned beastie 5) What is that black-skinned reptilian creature? 6) Weathertop. First problem I've had. First, only the WK advances all the way to Frodo. First 2 stop early, second two stop later. They don't make it to the other hobbits. Frodo puts on Ring and advacnes towards Nazgul. Why is hje in the rear guarded by the other three? Where's Strider?Where's the fire? Other hobbits should be cowering, not standing defiantly. Set looks too shiny and slick, not real at all. Maybe this is not a final shot. I hope not. 7) Liv looks good. Well, she always looks good 8) Gandalf. Perfect. 9) Why is Boromir holding the Ring near Caradhras? Geez, I hope it's ony a daydream. In fact, I hope it's not even that. The Ring's influence on him should be shown much more subtly; we should't be hit over the head with it. His actions on Amon Hen should be a *surprise*. If PJ is going to forshadow it all the time he is making a mistake. 10) Frodo, Stop chewing your fingernails/ 11) Who's the long-haired blond guy? Dunlending # 3 or someone important? 12) Look at Boromor kill that orc! (Yes, it Boromir. You can make out the horn haning from his far side) 13) Who's the odd looking fellow in the wet dark graveyardy place? Viggo on Weathertop? It look like Viggo is throwing a torch at the screen (Nazgul?) 14) Oh, Whatever you name who was originally playing Aragorn who got fired or quit over "creative differences" What a jerk! Here's my thoughts: Are there different versions of the trailer? I mean content-wise? I downloaded the smaller version, so maybe I didn't see as much as you did. I thought the size was actual picture info, not content. I don't remember seeing Arwen. The mention of the "giant legs" I thought was referring to the prosthetic legs that actor is wearing, until you mentioned Arwen. Is he supposed to be Sauron? Or the Balrog? I watched it 4-5 times. All in all, I didn't see enough in that preview to tell me much of anything. The clips were too short, and too fast. One thing that I did think of, all the Nazgul(?) drawing sword at the same time. It reminded me a bit of SW. I thought of 4 Darth Vaders in a line, all acting in unison. I'd say it was a decent preview, but there just wasn't _enough_ of it, IYKWIM? Many thanks to the guy who posted his shortcut links to the previews. Worked wonderfully. Also, my download took just slightly over an hour, on a 14.4KB modem. What speed was the modem that the guy mentioned that took _4_ hours? BTW, on saving it... I tried the one method - the right click didn't do anything. So I used the find feature, and looked for "tmp" extensions. Got a lot of junk to clean up, but no movie. So I tried "mov". And found a file that was named lotr[something].mov. I don't remember what else was there. I renamed it to "prev.mov", and was able to save it that way. So it _can_ be saved. I agree they can do amazing things in post production, but I'm concerned about the scene itself - i.e. no cowering hobbits; Frodo not advancing; Aragorn nowhere to be be seen. I'm guessing but since Viggo appears in a later clip throwing a torch, he is around, but perhaps he comes in from the side. I like the scene the way Tolkien wrote it: Hobbits and Aragorn form circle around fire with torches; 5 then 3 the WK alone advance; Frodo put on ring and advances out of circle towards WK; Hobbits cower; Aragorn leaps forward with torches, etc. From the shots in the preview (which are all I have to go on) PJ is going in a different direction. >>9) Why is Boromir holding the Ring near Caradhras? Anyway, in the shot he is _not_ actually touching the Ring, >yet -- just the chain. It could be that he withdraws his hand and >gives the Ring back to Frodo. I still think Boromir's being influenced by the RIng should be much more subtle. Tolkien was writing about it (i.e. no narrative commentary) and barely hinted at what was happening to Boromir. I don't think PJ should be hitting the audience over the head with foreshadowing his fall. Boromir should be the true hero throughout (the one who first runs to Gandalf's aid when the Balrog appears); thus making his actions on Amon Hen a surprise and his redemption more poignent. I hope PJ is not going to portray Boromir as a "traitor in the ranks" type of character. >>11) Who's the long-haired blond guy? Dunlending # 3 or someone important? > >Legolas. Really? After all in the book, Bormoir knows all about the Ring from Rivendell all the way to Parth Galen, but does not act on it. So presumably in the film we get something along the lines of Boromir getting interrupted in his ring-gazing by one of the others in the Fellowship, and he makes up some excuse. Or something.
