Was wondering what the words for "prophet" and "priest" were, respectively? Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated! I don't think there are exact equivalents in Quenya, but there is a probable* Q. word for 'foresight': 'apacen' (more accurately 'aftersight' -- knowledge of that which comes after) I suppose prophets would excel at this -- -- Cian ###### Message-ID: <3857A840.F5A10702@mediaone.net> From: Cian X-Mailer: Mozilla 4.7 [en]C-MOENE (Win95; U) X-Accept-Language: en MIME-Version: 1.0 Newsgroups: rec.arts.books.tolkien Subject: Re: English to Elvish Translations References: <385688e0@rpc1284.daytonoh.ncr.com> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit Lines: 13 Date: Wed, 15 Dec 1999 09:40:00 -0500 NNTP-Posting-Host: 24.128.99.214 X-Complaints-To: abuse@mediaone.net X-Trace: ndnws01.ne.mediaone.net 945269102 24.128.99.214 (Wed, 15 Dec 1999 09:45:02 EST) NNTP-Posting-Date: Wed, 15 Dec 1999 09:45:02 EST Organization: Road Runner Path: chonsp.franklin.ch!pfaff.ethz.ch!news-zh.switch.ch!newsfeed-zh.ip-plus.net!news.ip-plus.net!News.Amsterdam.UnisourceCS!skynet.be!newsfeed.cwix.com!chnws03.mediaone.net!24.128.1.101!chnws05.ne.mediaone.net!24.128.60.9!ndnws01.ne.mediaone.net.POSTED!not-for-mail Michael Martin wrote: > [snip] > Was wondering what the words for "prophet" and "priest" were, respectively? I should add that if your agreeable to Adűnaic however, you could go with 'izindu-bęth' - 'true-sayer, prophet'. This is attested anyway, in HOME 'Sauron Defeated'. -- Cian
