Why? The Black Cauldron was book 2 of a five-part series called The Chronicles of Prydain written by Lloyd Alexander in the sixties. It was a finalist for an award the title of which escapes me, and the fifth book of the series, The High King, won that same award a few years later. The entire series is aimed at a young audience, but the stories are good. They are derived from Welsh mythology. Anyway, sorry to not really answer your question, but I haven't seen any comment on that book, or the series from Tolkien. -- Bill Go filter yourself ###### From: "Gorbadoc" Subject: Re: The Black Cauldron?
