Expect to see first results of this project in form of commented colour graphics of the FPGA contents. Ideal for documenting what goes on in these chips and helping others learn to work with them. ... This project can be found at: http://neil.franklin.ch/Projects/VirtexTools/ ------ Well I am now so far. The VirtexTools have gone through 2 milestones (2.5 and 1 month) and are now usable for making graphic renderings (and textual listings) of FPGA design contents. So I have (last 1/2 month) generated renderings of the current state and of the 3 milestones. And I have embedded these in text pages describing what the stuff is, that you see there. They are on the web at: 1st milestone: http://neil.franklin.ch/Projects/PDP-10-20010516/pdp10.vv.html 2nd milestone: http://neil.franklin.ch/Projects/PDP-10-20011229/pdp10.vv.html 3rd milestone: http://neil.franklin.ch/Projects/PDP-10-20020625/pdp10.vv.html current: http://neil.franklin.ch/Projects/PDP-10/pdp10.vv.html I hope this will answer some of the questions about what this FPGA stuff is, in particular how much this is hardware vs software. If not, then ask. Also I have strongly updated the projects home page, with detailled sections on: - project background and reasons - changes in interests since start - what has been done, and when - what is intended to be done, and in what row http://neil.franklin.ch/Projects/PDP-10/ So, I am now back to working on the PDP-10 project, towards the 4th milestone. -- Neil Franklin, neil@franklin.ch.remove http://neil.franklin.ch/ Hacker, Unix Guru, El Eng HTL/BSc, Programmer, Archer, Blacksmith - hardware runs the world, software controls the hardware code generates the software, have you coded today?
