Has anyone attempted to install TOPS-20 4.1 on a non-x86 platform?  I'm
trying to follow the instructions Bob posted and I keep hanging at the same
point.  This is with simh 2.6a with DZ11 support running on OpenBSD/Alpha.

You need a ^C next.  That will put you into
the mini-exec.

I don't believe we've ever found the official
copies of the TOPS20 install file.   Enough
people in this group have long enough
memories to put this together.  I believe
this particular log was from Bob Supnik
while he was working on simh.  There
might be a copy of these somewhere on
Tim's web site.

Thanks, I'd grabbed this off of USENET when it came through, and was able on
my second try (the first one resulted in a corrupt disk) to get what I assume 
is a functional system.  Of course with the lack of documentation (and here
I thought we had a lack of TOPS-10 doc's), it's kind of hard to know what
you're doing if you've never touched a TOPS-20 system.

I've gotten to where I can login as OPERATOR, one slight problem, when I try
to run something like ACTGEN or OPR it tells me OPERATOR privilege is
required.  Doesn't OPERATOR have the OPERATOR privilege?!?!

Also, anyone have any tips for restoring the tools tape?  I really want to
get SED installed!

It was worst for TOPS20 since the sources were an
extra cost item, unlike TOPS-10 which shipped them
normally.

You need to do an '@ENABLE' to kick in your priv's.  This is on
purpose to prevent people from destroying things via finger fault.
They had to do an extra step to really goof things up.

I *think* I can get the files restored without any problem, I'm just
wondering if I should restore them to PS:<TOOLS.foo> where foo is the name
of each tool, or somewhere else.  If I do restore them to PS:<TOOLS.foo> I'm
assuming I want to copy at least some of the files to PS:<SUBSYS>?

Just use a logical search list. 
 @ DEFINE SYS: PS:<SUBSYS>, PS:<TOOLS>  if you want.
