I used it for about 4 months at the tail end of 9th grade, while at William Floyd. This was while it was in BOCES. I was switched over to a KS10 the next year, and used it for 3 years, and worked under Bruce on them for 2 more. As for the repair kit, I had something similar while in high school for the LA36's and LA120. It always made the teachers nervous when I took out the LA120 head and adjusted it by eye :) My repair kit included some aluminum foil to be used to jumper the fuses in case the head got stuck and blew the fuse, at least on the LA36's (DECwriter III's) ... I also remember hearing about the Fear of God thing.
