But the form this took was rather unusual for me. I was lying on my side trying to relax and fall asleep, when suddenly I realized that I was seeing something green in my mind's eye. While a bit pallid and not entirely lifelike it was pretty vivid, and I wondered if this is what Sherilyn's waking visualizations are like. Anyway, I was able to control my point of view, and looking up and down the expanse of green realized that what I was seeing was a flowing green evening gown. I mentally zoomed in on the fabric at one point and it was quite detailed, though I couldn't tell you what fabric it was supposed to be--something similar to gabardine I think. Anyway, I figured I should continue my visual sweep and look further up, beyond the dress, and there was a very distinctive, although quite expressionless, woman's face up there, looking down at me. The psychological effect was as if suddenly there was a woman standing in the room with me instead of me playing around with a mental image. Fleeting thoughts of ghosts and other nonphysical beings sprang unbidden to mind :), and I was startled, not into waking up, but into a kind of false awakening. I can't call it an OBE because there was no sense of leaving my body; I was just suddenly in a dream version of my room in a fully mobile dream body. I could no longer see the woman, but I tried to address her, saying she looked a bit like the woman who used to live in this house when I was growing up. There was no answer, but I felt like something invisible crawled into bed with me on the opposite side from where the woman would have been standing and was squirming around there. This was altogether too creepy so I got up. I looked back at the bed but there was no "me" or anyone else visible there, just rumpled, thrown off covers. I had trouble raising the window to slip out so I broke off the window panes, threw them to the ground and jumped down after them. It was night time in the dream, although I was aware that it was actually bright morning in the real world. I considered going to one of my usual OBE/local lucid haunts but my attention was caught by what looked like a large structure in the distance with lighted windows, and flew over that way to investigate. It kept mutating as I approached, losing the appearance of a building altogether. When I finally got there--well, I can hardly even describe the scene, it was so bizarre. It was something like a large classroom with animatronic dinosaurs and such in it. Anyway, I woke up and fell asleep repeatedly during the morning and had more LDs with lots of bizarre imagery including coffins rising out of the ground, and another false awakening with the sense of the small invisible thing squirming in the bed next to me. I wrestled with it a bit and threatened that I've been known to do awful things to bedroom invaders, but since it was so inchoate, silent and ultimately non-threatening I desisted and just left the room again. I remember thinking at one point that this sort of entertainment is not for the faint-hearted. :) -- When people are free to do as they please, they usually imitate each other.--Despair, Inc. I could feel the dream bed bouncing and it felt like something was pressing lightly up against my shoulder. It wasn't one of those cases where you just somehow "sense" a presence. One of my theories - if your bedroom's dark you are more likely to have a bright dream and vice versa. If the perceptions in the dream differ a lot from the perceptions that the sleeping body has, the dream state will be enforced. Do you agree? > I remember thinking at one point > that this sort of entertainment > is not for the faint-hearted. :) Ever made friends with a demon? I guess that's not for the faint-hearted either. I can't speak for my dreams in general, but dreams that start in my bedroom usually have much the same lighting level as the the actual lighting of the room. Upon a time there was a very close correlation. It's not quite as tight anymore, though, and I even get mixed results, as in this case in which it was dark night outside the house in the dream but dim daylight inside. > If the > perceptions in the dream differ a lot from the perceptions > that the sleeping body has, the dream state will be > enforced. When pets turn into dream demons after passing away, the funny thing is you're still familiar with them. Running through the dark with a demon right by your side, it can be fun. Well, but that was only once I have to admit. Usually my dog is just nice and alive, not dead at all. And I guess I prefer it that way. How about Nazgul? My dog didn't like cats, otherwise I would have suggested a shared pet dream. ###### From: Janice Newsgroups: alt.out-of-body Subject: Re: Weird WILD Message-ID: References: <3B02ED9F.5577EE16@not-here.net> <3B058D40.C93264C1@not-here.net> X-Newsreader: MicroPlanet Gravity v2.50 Lines: 46 NNTP-Posting-Date: Fri, 18 May 2001 18:48:30 CDT Organization: Giganews.Com - Premium News Outsourcing X-Trace: sv3-9bvV8cfpTW0Dc6cEiER/HBjY2/lhC4lO3qXwRwjf8zXlKDfPyr7BS0EjBTMT/BSoBdxy76ZfJexS1bd!ODKox5N9SCa5KAG2++PJaNKl/RJnJ8CQKrG/TeCxt1RBKtv68vNo0K5GyGoZiy629qpjzei3NERH!sN5+CViIpA== X-Complaints-To: abuse@GigaNews.Com X-DMCA-Complaints-To: dmca@giganews.com X-Abuse-Info: Please be sure to forward a copy of ALL headers X-Abuse-Info: Otherwise we will be unable to process your complaint properly Date: Fri, 18 May 2001 19:49:57 -0400 Path: chonsp.franklin.ch!pfaff.ethz.ch!news-zh.switch.ch!newsfeed-zh.ip-plus.net!news.ip-plus.net!news.tesion.net!news.belwue.de!news-stu1.dfn.de!news-mue1.dfn.de!news-was.dfn.de!news-spur1.maxwell.syr.edu!news.maxwell.syr.edu!wn1feed!wn3feed!worldnet.att.net!207.207.0.27!nntp2.aus1.giganews.com!nntp3.aus1.giganews.com!news6.giganews.com.POSTED!not-for-mail Xref: chonsp.franklin.ch alt.out-of-body:67385 In article <3B058D40.C93264C1@not-here.net>, not-me@not-here.net says... > Janice wrote: > > > > > Ever made friends with a demon? > > > I guess that's not for the faint-hearted either. > > > My dog made for a cute demon. The Nazgul were demonic characters from J. R. R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings, which went around rather affectedly wearing black cloaks and hoods and riding black horses or flying pterodactyl-like creatures. I've often dreamed about similar beings and had fun flying around with them on their marauding sprees (not on pterodactyls though). > A > former cat of yours, I figure? I've dreamed about dead former pets, but they haven't been demonic or ghoulish. Ill, at worst. -- When people are free to do as they please, they usually imitate each other.--Despair, Inc. These are human spirits, but of a type whose bodies never died. Rather they were made bodily immortal (by 9 of the rings controlled by the one ring), but their bodys got stretched infinitely thin (only so much Eru-given life in it) and so invisible due to their long lives (>1000 years). Their leader was once King of Angmar (that is north-east of Bree, north-west of Rivendell). The only demon in LoTR is the Balrog of Moria. > which went around rather affectedly wearing black cloaks and > hoods and riding black horses or flying pterodactyl-like creatures.
