Ive encountered a sly gnome, playful sylphs and salamanders and even an undine. The encounters were in some cases intuitive, but in some,-visual. The visual ones were very fleeting "did I really see what I think I saw?" types of events. The one with the gnome was rather humorous for some reason. The intuitive ones were longer in duration. The visual encounters resulted from meditation in specific occult exercises for scrying or pathworking. One of the strongest intuitive encounters occured when I was much younger and before I had heard of occult practices except as fiction. I think I have posted it (maybe here) in certain related NGs. I'm pretty sure now that the "slow moving" ones I described in that post are elemental spirits, especially a lady I saw in a white dress who was so reluctant to leave when I asked her to! When I read this post I thought I might add that I very occasionally see what I guess I can term as"little people." Very small, almost barbie doll-like characters, who seem to be very funny and playful.. I remember that one of them was wearing a long evening type gown, and strutting around, she was quite a diva! They seem to be fairy-like in nature.. There is also an elf-like character, probably about half the size that a normal-sized human would be, who has a tendency to hang around sitting on my desk chair! I've seen him in a number of OBEs.. He seems kind grumpy, but I don't get the sense that he wants anything energetically from me like these elemental characters, so I just let him hang around.. Maybe he just likes having some company? : ) - Ann Marie Dread and Puissant Champion of the Fey wrote: > I don't know what they ultimately are but yes I have encountered scores > of them. At a point the dog would show up when the scenario was the least bit threatening - even if I didn't mind that at all and was just crafting a fun adventure. It was very protective of me. As a humorous aside, one time after I hadn't seen the dog (a black Labrador retriever) for a long time, I called for it. A man standing nearby said the dog wasn't available to me anymore. But then a huge black dog, more like a Newfoundland, came bounding up and nearly bowled me over with excitement, so he had to eat his words. :) I have very little trouble summoning dream horses of all kinds. Usually, though, the silly things come running up and run right by me. :) It can take a while before I get one to stop and give me a lift. ###### From: ekans64@aol.com (Ekans64) Newsgroups: alt.out-of-body Subject: Re: Elementals, my dear... Even the ones that are considered good or at least nuetral in character. According to ceremonial magick via Judaic Kaballah they are doomed to be destroyed at judgement time along with the fallen angels. They have done nothing to deserve this but thier purpose for existance will have become moot. They are they force that runs the worlds processes behind the curtains so to speak. However, if they evolve, something they cannot do on thier own due to thier simple nature, they can escape that doom. They can only evolve by hanging out with more complex creatures, I.e; humans. Some are bitter about thier fate and love to torment humans, others hope to survive by absorbing energy from humans without permission. Sort of like psychic vampires. Some are artificially constructed by strong emotion or purpose, these called egregores, are on some mission even if thier creator is long dead. These too, sweep up energy from any convenient sourse but also pick up nearby emotions and act on them. Another category are nature spirits, devas and so forth these are generally more complex in elemental make up being made of more than one astral/magickal element. Others, not true elemntals at all are concepts incarnate usually associated with an astrological influence notably planets or the sun and moon these are commonly called planetary spirits. Another category are religious hierarchical beings such as demons and angels. Some posit ghosts; but in the main, western traditional magick holds that these are not really the spirits of departed people but an elemental spirit of low nature inhabiting the remnants of the departed's astral vehicle (often referred to as a shell) and the rest of the person has long gone to reunite with the all also commonly referred to as god or diety. This is not the anthropomorphosized version common to christian thought on the subject but rather the hebrew mystic kaballah version: indivisible, unlimited, everything and nothing Ain, ain soph, ain soph aur.
