I have pondered over it for 5 days before posting for other opinions. I will list it in point form to be as brief as possible. 1) My family and I were supposed to go to my sisters house for lunch. 2)Sceduled arrival time was to be 1:00 pm. 3) My sister called at 12:50pm to see when we were coming. 4) I told her that we were "almost" on our way. 5) My family and I walked out the door at 12:56 6) Pulled out of the driveway at 1:02 ***We kept checking the time because we were running so late, that is why I know the exact times of the previous occurances. I did not check my watch again until we walked in the front door of my sisters house*** 7) (it is at best speed and traffic a 30 minute drive to her home) 8) Along the way (a few minutes into the trip) The van I was driving got a flat tire. 9) As it is an 8 year old van (and the spare hangs underneath and has never been removed) it took me what felt like 'quite a while' to get the spare removed from place, then the van jacked up, the wheel nuts removed, tire off, spare on, wheel nuts back on, jack down, all stuff (jack, tire iron, flat) stowed in rear and to get on our way again. *** Here is the freaky part.....remember, we left my house at 1:02 with a minimum 30 minute drive ahead of us*** 10) We walked into my sisters house after all this and the first thing she said was "That did not take you too long at all" ( I was expecting to get in shit for being so much later than I told her we would be) I checked my watch and the time was 1:25. This time was confirmed by my wife (who was with me the whole time) and my sister (who was waiting for us at her house the entire time). My sister also confirms (as does my memory, and my wifes) that the call from my sister came at 12:50. My wife and I both know that we did not pull out of the driveway until 12 minutes later...at precisely 1:02 by my digital watch. (1:05 by my wifes watch) Both watches confirm that we made it to, and into my sisters house 23 minutes later. Not a bad trip considering even at the best of times it is a minimum 30 minute drive (average is 35-40). An even better time considering that I spent what felt like at least half an hour changing a flat tire. Anybody have a clue as to what happened here? Please dont say "the times were remembered incorrectly", as i have spent 5 days already trying to put all this together and figure it out. All the times are correct to the minute and all the watches were set for almost exactly the same times before (my sister said when she called "its 10 minutes to 1, where are you?" and I checked my watch as she asked, and it did read 12:51) I am at a loss to explain this strange bend in time........does anyone have any ideas??? Atwater. She came and gave a talk a while back and mentioned the book and I saw it a few months later in a bookstore so I picked it up. She apparently had three near death experiences and somehow she claims that affected her level of consciousness or something. Not sure exactly. She mentions several episodes in her own life where time seemed to become manipulated by her own 'higher self' for reasons she set out. She also mentions runners in other countries that are supposedly able to reach thier destinations way before they could humanly possibly get there running. It's supposed to be some sort of "mystical talent" I take it. At any rate, her own explanation is that her mental processes shift from some dimension she entitles "patience" and through there she can experience some sort of time shift. She doesn't control it, it just somehow happens sort of like an OBE. In fact, many of her experiences run similar to stuff happening in OBEs. The book was interesting but left me with many questions and a feeling that she hasn't postulated enough theories, merely places facts in front of you hoping for you to experience the same sort of "brain shift" she does. Which I suppose is possible, but I have yet to experience it. I can't explain to you why this happened, but I can relate a similar experience that happened to me many years ago. My best friend and I were both 16 when we went for a week's camping trip out to Montauk Point Long Island. It was our first night there, and already dark ... my parents were beginning to make a campfire. So Georgia and I decided to take a look around and go "exploring". To make a long story short, we were walking in the woods and got lost. We seemed to walk for hours ... and although we didn't have a watch, we had the blisters on our feet, and our rumpled clothes as evidence. We were in a state of panic, when all of a sudden we walked through the brush right into our own campsite. Exhausted, we collapsed with relief ... but my parents hadn't even noticed we were missing. We were amazed - we thought for sure we were in serious trouble. According to my Dad's watch, we were only gone a half an hour. It remains as one of the more mysterious things that have happened in my life .. and all I can do is speculate. A day later I came down with a raging fever and she had terrible cramping. But no one could figure out why. We were all eating the same packed food, with no variations, and my parents were fine. A very strange trip. I'm always looking at the clock trying to tell myself that I should really get up now, but then I don't, only to look at the clock again a few minutes later to say the same thing again. Once in awhile I'll note the time, hop out of bed, make a pot of coffee and then look at the time again. Sometimes 20 minutes or more will pass during that time which normally only takes about 4 minutes. It always throws me for a loop since it pisses me off that 16 minutes would just disappear with no explaination. Once in awhile the opposite happens where I will wake up in the morning, notice the time, then roll over, sleep somemore, or think somemore, or just waste time doing nothing at all, then look at the clock expecting to see 10-30 minutes have passed and notice that the clock has only moved one minute. I am always amazed by these events, but I don't really believe that they are really happening, so I ignore them. And that was very kind of you to warp time so that your sister wouldn't be inconvieninced with late arriving lunch guests. I have witnessed such a shift. Not a time shift but a location shift (of about ten feet). Was driving on an icy road one night with my two kids and two nieces (quick run to the video store). I was being as careful as I could, but sure enough, when I had to stop at the intersection, I slid right into the middle of the road. I could not believe it. I looked directly out my left window and saw the lights of the other care coming right for me. I got very dizzy and put my head down. When I shook off the dizziness (a split second) I sat up and my car was sitting behind the white line at the stop sign and the car I saw head right for us, zoomed it's way through a clear intersection. So needless to say, I know we have a little something on this space/time thing.
