Without that small > bit of giving in to the infinite, we're totally trapped in the limited > realities of our own creation. Trapped in limited realites, yes, good point. Limited realities give us a sense of security, emotionally speaking, and this oobe stuff, among other things is an emotional issue. So it it that hanging on too tightly to limited realities can afford, for some the emotional security they feel most comfortable with. Ever hear of the term "Institutionalized"? It's what convicts who have spent many, many years in prison have become...institutionalized. They have come to depend on the security of their limited existence, and limited freedom. These kinds of people can get out of prison after maybe 20 or 30 years and can't deal with the outside, it's just too much...of everything. Just like some people can have an oobe and can't deal with it. It's too much...of just about everything. It scares them, it freaks them, they want back in, it's safer and more secure feeling. Inside is better than outside, emotionally speaking. To travel out of body (or more accurately "to shift in consciousness") requires the development of certain skills and abilities...but even with ability developed there is still the emotional issue. Just because we know what to do to have an oobe doesn't mean we do it. Even if we say we do want to have an oobe. So, what determines how much a person practices? We get involved and actually do as much as we do as regards out of body inducement practice (and any other activity in life) by virtue of how we feel about it, the practice, and the activity we're trying to learn how to do. If we have issues an uncomfortable emotions connected with any aspect of the activity or it's practice, this will deter, or slow down one's forward progress or even stop it cold. So, it's just something to consider when taking up this oobe practice thing. People can and do, experience intense emotions sometimes when they have an oobe or even when they experience the first stages...the buzz, the sounds, the visuals or whatever. Does it trigger a fear response? Does it trigger excitement such that the student breaks there concentration and focus? It can. So anyway, emotional stuff is part of the oobe thing. So the greater our confront is on certain emotions the better one's ability to shift in consciousness, at will to other non-physical environments. If you are wondering if there's more to being able to travel out of body than just practicing various techniques, consider the emotional aspect of the whole thing. Like how able are you at experiencing some of the more profound feeling states associated with oobes? The long and the short of getting out of body, is to practice the basics, and keep practicing the basics, while learning all you can about how it all works and why, and be gutsy and confront the prospect of encountering uncomfortable emotions along the way, and just keep at it. Whatever encourages you to do the various techniques, and drills and practice, is probably going to do you the most good, if actually getting out is the idea. There's dream recall practice, there's vibrational practice (Monroe tapes for example) and there's practice staying awake while the body sleeps peacefully (to name just a few of the many). There's all kinds of techniques one can practice with. And I believe that most people if they really keep at it and don't have too many emotional issues going on as regards the oobe they will eventually have their oobe or oobes. Another thing about this subject of Out Of Body Travel is that it's a complex subject with a serious shortage of terminology to explain or express all the things that have to do with oobes. Vocabular, terminology, defintions, key words, nomenclature, we are short on these things, while being long on interest and discussion, so when we try to share with each other, it can sometimes be difficult to agree on matters because the other guy may be thinking one concept when you use such and such a word, while you're thinking another concept while using that same word...or phrase. So it's quite amazing that we get as much as we do out of our converstaions with each other on this subject, even when we are in accord and want to help each other out. And it's the mutual emotional support and encouragement we give each other that is going to help as much is not more than a new technique. So...if getting out is the idea, filtering out all the people here who give no emotional support what-so-ever may be just the ticket. Because your emotional state as regards oobes and oobe practice is going to have significant bearing on how well it all goes for you. Ya think? Rich
