I have read many books on the subject since then. I started practicing for an OBE right away almost I had many of the symptoms of an obe such as buzzing in the head, loud noises inside my room, seeing my room in the dark behind closed eyes etc. I also had two out of body experiences like floating around my room. I was rasied a christian and in my family things such as these are considered devils work. So I quit OBE's to study my religion more on how it relates to OBE's and what it thinks about them. Well, I learned alot more than I bargained for such as the roots of christianity and its growth etc. I dont even believe in a god anymore after having read all arguments for and against the bible. Anyways, with this in mind, It was okay to continue with my OBE practice but now when I try nothing happens...no symptoms etc. My initial experiences of these symptoms happened before I read alot of the literature on OBE's. I think maybe now I have to many expectations from what I have read. If there is anyone that has my background, please reply on what you did to continue successfully with your obes Tom ###### From: Newsgroups: alt.out-of-body Subject: Re: Wanting a clean start Date: Thu, 7 Oct 1999 23:09:54 +0100 Organization: Customer of Planet Online Lines: 50 Message-ID: <7tj7bg$1vp$1@news6.svr.pol.co.uk> References: <01bf1057$cdb42e40$74161d86@moi-comp> NNTP-Posting-Host: modem4294967246.firearms.dialup.pol.co.uk X-Trace: news6.svr.pol.co.uk 939335856 2041 195.92.2.178 (7 Oct 1999 22:37:36 GMT) NNTP-Posting-Date: 7 Oct 1999 22:37:36 GMT X-Complaints-To: abuse@theplanet.net X-Newsreader: Microsoft Outlook Express 4.72.3110.1 X-MimeOLE: Produced By Microsoft MimeOLE V4.72.3110.3 Path: chonsp.franklin.ch!pfaff.ethz.ch!news-zh.switch.ch!news-ge.switch.ch!news.maxwell.syr.edu!diablo.theplanet.net!news.theplanet.net!newspost.theplanet.net!not-for-mail Tom Murphy wrote in message <01bf1057$cdb42e40$74161d86@moi-comp>... >Hello everyone, I got involved in learning about OBE's a year ago. I also went through an atheist phase as well because I was so cheesed off with religion. It wasn't such a bad thing in some ways because it cleared out all the limiting junk of belief systems; Now I believe the truth is just too beautiful for words. At least with OBES you can realize for yourself that you are a lot more than your physbod and that there are other energy systems. There are all sorts of different methods you can try and it can be a lot of fun experimenting to find what suits you. A great deal of advice is posted on this NG I'm thankful to say because I am only a novice myself, though I was going out-of-body many years ago and didn't always realise what was happening. Still can't control it properly but it is a big adventure. Perhaps you are trying too hard and if you relax a bit more they will return soon. I don't think any attempts are wasted because IMO just clearing your mind can be a step toward raising your consciousness. Don't forget pscychic protection, don't want to scare you as a lot of people don't have any bother but for those that do it is a distraction and a nuisance. But perhaps you know all about that anyway. Many people believe in God but belong to no "religion". In the latter case one may decide to request help from a higher source on various matters, such as this one. Tom, I can totally relate to where you are coming from. At the time of my OBE experimentation, I was torn between my Christian background and my new astral adventures. However, my OBE's didn't make me give up in the belief of God. On the contrary, it made my belief stronger. HOWEVER, it did tear down my devotion to organized religion. I no longer attend church ( to the disappointment of my family), but I am more spiritual now than I have ever been, thanks to my OBE's. Your interest in OBE's shows that part of you on the inside is searching for something more...something that you know is out there. Keep searching and your answers will come. You may find that a lot of organized religion is man's feeble attempt to get closer to a God who is already inside of us. =) Keep smiling, <3 Jeff Mash <3 To email me, remove the "nospam" in the address.
