Had my hattrick this morning (I somehow feel safer in daylight, there's another obstacle...) Anyway, before I went to bed (4:00 a.m.) I was just listening to music, it was actually "Casey Kasem" playing his top 40..!!?! Maybe he has some kind of hypnotic voice or something, but I somehow got into a really relaxed mood. My senses went into that weird state. The music was extremely loud in my head, but actually wasn't. Things seemed slow and fast at the same time. I got very excited because this hasn't happened for a long time, and I am just realizing what it means! I then tried to meditate, on my back. For me, and probably most others, this is the easiest position to achieve sleep paralyis. I laid there for a while trying to see beyond the darkness of my eyes. I felt a few shivers/pins"n"needles, but after I got over that, I felt something different. I'm not really experienced in OBE's but this time there was no mistaking the feeling! After reading some posts, I realized that these shivers are just the feeling of anticipation. Recognizing that, I then started to feel what I can only explain was like warm waves coarsing *through* my body. Nothing like the cold tingles passing over my skin. After a while it felt like my whole body was an ocean, and each involuntary wave kept forcing my astral body higher! I was like this for about 20 min, all the while focusing on my body floating upward. I never did! So I finally gave up, sat up, and went to sleep. I woke up at about 6:30 a.m., (Reice, I am going to try this technique agiain tonight, hopefully the same will happen) I ate some food, read the paper, then went and laid back into bed. About 20 min later, out of nowhere, I sat up in my astral body, looked back at my physical body and mentally said WOW! Right away I flew out my window and enjoyed the view. I then rememembered my destination and went in that direction. This is where things get fuzzy. I couldn't really fly far without falling back to the ground, and pushing myself back up with my hands and feet. Can anyone tell me how to avoid turbulence? I couldn't exactly pinpoint where I was going, so I then slipped into some semi-lucid dream where I forgot my purpose. I was so happy that I remembered my destination, but was so frustrated that I couldn't get there! Some people say all it takes is a thought, to take you there. How do you get where you want to go when OOB? -Nikfit -- Posted via Talkway - http://www.talkway.com Exchange ideas on practically anything (tm). ###### NNTP-Posting-Host: user-10003900.zetnet.co.uk Message-ID: <1999092811514875767@zetnet.co.uk> Date: Tue, 28 Sep 1999 11:51:48 +0100 Newsgroups: alt.out-of-body From: J L Williams X-Mailer: ZIMACS Version 1.20c 10003900 Subject: Re: Lost my map! I posted a similar experience to this a few days ago, I was flying, but it was taking A LOT of effort, more than usual, so my movement was like a bouncing ball...Its hard to avoid once it starts. The best thing to do is not fight it, let it take you wherever. When it stops, give it a few *minutes* (time during an OBE is hard to determine) then try again. > I couldn't exactly pinpoint where I was going, so I then slipped into > some semi-lucid dream where I forgot my purpose. I'm going to shout here for just a moment, because I think it's really important...(steps up high on the soap box). Ahem.....HEY LISTEN UP ALL OF YOU WHO HAVE BEEN TRYING TO HAVE AN OBE FOREVER AND BEEN UNSUCCESSFUL. ....Ouch, that hurts the throat. Ok, no more shouting, I think I have your attention now. You may have noticed in Nickfits post a technique that has been used by successful OBEers in this newsgroup time and time again. I just wanted to bring it to your attention because I know some of you are STILL TRYING TO GO OBE WHEN YOU FIRST GO TO SLEEP. Hey! Who turned up that microphone. Sorry about that, now where was I....Oh yes....there are still some of you who are trying to go obe when you first go to sleep. And it hasn't been working, now has it. Then someone who has never had an obe before suddenly posts that they have had one that morning using the very same technique that Nikfit has used here. And then someone else posts and by golly the technique is the same again. DON'T YOU GET IT?.... Opps, Sorry. Don't you get it? OK, in case you missed it, here is what happened. Nickfit went to sleep for a few hours. Enough to get good and rested. S/he then woke up in the wee hours of the morning. S/he stayed awake for a little while, then went back to bed. WITHIN ABOUT 20 MINUTES S/HE HAD AN OBE. Now one part that Nikfit didn't mention but that I think is key is that SOMETIME IN THAT 20 MINUTES NIKFIT PROBABLY DOSED OFF FOR A FEW MOMENTS, THEN WOKE UP TO IMMEDIATELY GO INTO AN OBE. It's possible that she stayed awake for the 20 minutes, I of course don't know, but I would suspect that this is what happened because I've seen this pattern over and over again from my own experiences and from others who have had their first OBE and reported it in this newsgroup. WELL, THATS.. I mean, well, that's all I have to say. (Steps off the very high soap box, stumbles and crashes to the ground. Angry posters from all over the newsgroup run up and start kicking him in the gut, ranting things like "Don't you shout at us with that hi falootin attitude of yours punk". After they all leave, he gets up and brushes off the dust. Suddenly out of nowhere he gets punched right in the face. It was Nikfit. "And that's for shouting in MY thread!" Although he felt he deserved everything he got, he was still saddened that not one person took him seriously, he limped home, wishing he had simply posted in a newgroup instead.) I think you are right, the majority of people have OBE's after sleeping, I do. Trying to project from scratch (when going to bed) is MUCH harder (unless you are physically tired - I've come home from the gym at 10pm, sat in bed and had a spontaneous OBE when I was thinking about some work I had to do). When you wake up after a few hours sleep, your physical body is still tired, and will easily go back to sleep. All you have to do is think about *anything* and it will eventually happen. -- Yours, Reice Sosoe ------------------------------------------------------ Astral Projection, A Practical Guide http://go.to/astral ------------------------------------------------------ ###### Message-ID: <37F2C4F7.2D910910@privatei.com> From: The Original Ken Reply-To: sculpt@privatei.com Organization: fractal in nature X-Mailer: Mozilla 4.02 [en]C-DIAL (Win95; U) MIME-Version: 1.0 Newsgroups: alt.out-of-body Subject: Re: Lost my map! The best way is to just have as many OBEs as you possibly can and eventually they will get longer and longer. I realize of course that this doesn't help someone who wants a good long OBE today, so my next best suggestion is to take care that as soon as you leave your body you try as quickly as possible to get immediately involved in your surroundings (and NOT with yourself). Use all of your senses, especially the sense of touch (both fingers and your skins sensitivity to environmental conditions such as coolness and breezes), and the sense of sight. With your sense of touch, go around your room, or if you have already left your room, then walk around wherever you are and touch everything you can. In addition, pay attention to every feeling that crosses your skin. With the sense of sight, look very closely at everything you see. Look closely at doorknobs, at clothes lying on the floor, at the scratches and mars in the bedroom dresser wood. Get deeply involved in what you see and touch and this well help tremendously. This involvement reduces your anxiety about being out, and it gives your mind a good reason to stay out longer. Don't try and go anywhere intentionally without some prior ability to stay out longer. It will only work against you. Be aware however that I am NOT including natural excursions to distant places that have not been brought about by your own desire, these are important and you should go with them. But even during these times (especially during these times) pay attention to the details of your surroundings using all your senses to extend your trip. > Wow you're lucky you were still able to limp, and didn't get my > custumary free ride via ambulance. : ) Whew, the ambulance from Hell? Sometimes just sleeping for me is a priority. Last night I was feeling a lot healthier than the night before and had thought about trying to OBE again, but the trip was so lengthy that it wore me out and it was still so vivid and alive in my mind that I wanted more time to contemplate it so I was glad to just have a quiet night. I have had the pleasure of having OBEs from scratch on very rare occasions but they have been far and few between. I have had many OBEs while doing a short afternoon nap, but even this involved first dozing for just a few seconds and then waking up to the ecstacy of being right smack on top of a vibe state ready to go. > When you wake up after a few hours sleep, your physical body is still tired, > and will easily go back to sleep.
