A couple of minutes ago, I was reading this NG and Reice Sosoe's excellent website and just having a general think about things (as you sometimes do). I was sitting in front of the computer listening to some quite hypnotic music. Okay so it was Underworld's Born Slippy, the version that seems to go on for ages with that trance-like 'beat'.! Anyway, I was quite relaxed and started to stare into space and all of a sudden I started to feel heavy and the whole room felt much bigger, and the dark areas of the room also seemed to become blacker and oranger. I also got that 'tingling' if I can describe it as that, that I seem to get while attempting an OBE. But then I started to notice that my breathing was becoming erratic and the experence ended. :( Whatever it was, I quite enjoyed it. Can anyone shed any light on it? I know that you get quite a lot of posts asking "what was it?" and "what does it mean?" but you could say I'm a sort of newbie at this, so go easy! :) Warmest Regards, Ross. ###### From: Haunter@castles.com (Haunter) Newsgroups: alt.out-of-body Subject: Re: Weird.... but nice! It is an interesting state of consciousness. When it happens to me (and of course I'm making a very large assumption that we're talking about the same thingy here) it appears to be a result of too long sitting in front of the computer, stationless (no movement) with accompanying "deep thoughts". I believe it is a transitory state very similar to self-hypnosis or perhaps slipping "down" in brainwave frequencies into the low alpha/high theta freqs..very similar to hypnogogic phenomena. Just one guys opinion. Appreciated :) I have also experienced something similar while infront of this computer. It was about 3am, I had been writing pages for the site, and I was listening to the brainwave generator program I posted about (the link is www.bwgen.com if you are interested) on the Sleep Induction 1 setting. I started to tingle and my body felt extremely heavy. My focus on the screen was slightly milky and blurred. This startled me, which in turn, woke me up. I've never experienced it before, I was very tired at the time, been up about 20 hours... I didn't experience erratic breathing at the time, but I was slightly short of breath at one point... Snake is better than Born Slippy IMO, video is a bit crazy though :) -- Yours, Reice Sosoe ------------------------------------------------------ Astral Projection, A Practical Guide http://go.to/astral ------------------------------------------------------
