The walls were made up of green light. Throughout the walls were circular black holes, and around these holes the green light was brighter. Sort of like taking a slice of Swiss cheese and wrapping it into a tube. At the end of this tunnel, I saw a very bright white light. It was indescribeably distant, but I was accelerating toward it. I didn't know what it was, but I did know that I was NOT to go there! I started to become afraid, I couldn't slow down. I kept going faster and faster toward this light I was not supposed to reach. My fear turned to near panic. This feeling is rarely ever a part of my experience while projecting. The only choice, it seemed, was to cut the experience short. So, I did and blacked myself out in order to wake up back in my body. I wonder if I came close to crossing some type of line I wasn't supposed to? Maybe even physical death? I hope you realize you just described portions of a near-death-experience. I got scared the first time a bright light tried to suck me into it. I did the same thing you did - and pulled myself back to the physical. The next time it happened, curiosity got the better of me and I just let go. It was really cool! Then I came out the other side in what seemed to be a much clearer experience. This is when I realized that some sources of light are passage ways to higher levels of consciousness. As for going somewhere I shouldn't have... I was practicing going as deep as I could when I started following some music and singing. I found a whole bunch of fairies engaged in ballroom dancing and singing. The tune was rather bright cheerful, but the lyrics were that of a warning not to go farther. I ignored the little fairies and went past them onto a bright white surface. In a short time, it absorbed me into it. It turned out to be what I call a "spiritual washing machine" like what I described in a post last night to Mike Martin. The ride was quite rough, but it seemed to be beneficial - I think it may have had something to do with karmic cleansing. A very unfriendly atmosphere that caused my heart to momentarily stop in my bed and I ended up waking up with a big JOLT. Same exact description as yours. I really think there are some tunnels out there that go places we probably aren't ready for, whether they be NDE's or whatever. I'm not sure it will stop me from jumping into these tunnels as they are quite fascinating, but I'll be sure to pray for guidance before I do it next time. I knew then (and I knew nothing about obe's etc) that at this light I would meet all old family and friends. I debated with myself (or higher self?) that if this was death than this bit was so easy! So to go on was the easy bit. Then I realised I had lots of things left to do......I had just been successful at college, got my first position and looked forward to rearing my own family. This was not meant for me.......I had to go back. It was as easy as turning around and descending the ladder I had just climbed to get to this cloud. I understand your feeling that you would not return if you entered the cloud of light. I presently don't believe that is true. I've been in situations where I had a strong feeling that I would not return to the physical if I entered the area in question - yet I went in anyway. It has always resulted in a very intense experience, but never a permanent one (except for the permanent change within me). Once again, I must repeat myself to say that OBE is not for the timid. If you are going to get anywhere, you have to buckle up and go. I think Spirit knows when it is your time to actually make a permanent step away from the physical. I've talked with too many near death experiencers who have been sent back against their will to accept that Spirit can make such a mistake. I understand that it is scary and I cannot blame anyone for being hesitant to enter into a light source. I can only offer my experience that, so far, every light source I have entered resulted in a greater experience that I was eventually able to return from - regardless of the hesitation I may have felt before I entered it. They are often very intense experiences - beyond what one could describe with words. I've come to know them as part of the journey. Would it be right for me to tell people to avoid them - knowing what I know?
