Just to preface I have had and continue to have lots of OBEs, but this experience seems to be centered in my physical body as opposed to my astral body... Lately when I am in the borderland state between waking and sleeping, (especially if I take a nap during the day) I am often struck by the sensation that I am suddenly "seeing" what is around me while my physical eyes are closed! I will see my pillows next to me, or some things in my room, and if I open my physical eyes the placement of what I just saw is not necessarily what is in front of me.. It is as if my ability to "see" is transferred spontaneously to a source other than my physical eyes..yet I am still "in" my body.... This "seeing" does not coincide with any pre-obe vibrations... Whenever this happens it always seems really natural, and then I will often be jolted with the realization that my eyes are in fact closed!! I read in Buhlman's book "Adventures Outside of the Body" about this, and he mentioned that this happens when awareness is somehow transferred to the astral only partially (or something like that!) I have tried through meditation to reach this "seeing" state, but for me it only seems to come spontaneously, as I am falling asleep...I am wondering if anybody else has similar experiences, and if so, have you found a way that it is somehow useful to you, and are you able to do this at will? I am wondering it practiced psychics are somehow able to reach this clear, seeing state in order to enter into other more "informative" realms of consciousness.. Thanks a lot in advance, Ann Marie ###### From: johnf@melbpc.org.au (John Fitzsimons) Newsgroups: alt.out-of-body Subject: Re: "seeing" through eyelids Date: Sun, 09 May 1999 01:44:06 GMT Organization: Melbourne PC User Group Inc, Australia Lines: 65 Message-ID: <3738dfc1.8381933@news.melbpc.org.au> References: <37328E86.4248FD78@wenet.net> NNTP-Posting-Host: bilby5.melbpc.org.au Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit X-Newsreader: Forte Agent 1.5/32.451 Path: chonsp.franklin.ch!pfaff.ethz.ch!news-zh.switch.ch!news-ge.switch.ch!news.maxwell.syr.edu!news.mel.connect.com.au!news2.melbpc.org.au!not-for-mail On Thu, 06 May 1999 23:56:12 -0700, Ann Marie Newell wrote: < snip > >Lately when I am in the borderland state between waking and sleeping, >(especially if I take a nap during the day) I am often struck by the >sensation that I am suddenly "seeing" what is around me while my >physical eyes are closed! If you are viewing things from a non physical focus then you would be using what is commonly termed "psychic sight", or as others would call it "clairvoyance". One can see clairvoyantly with physical eyes open OR closed. The former is often termed "objective clairvoyance" and the latter "subjective clairvoyance". > I will see my pillows next to me, or some >things in my room, and if I open my physical eyes the placement of what >I just saw is not necessarily what is in front of me.. Yep. >It is as if my >ability to "see" is transferred spontaneously to a source other than my >physical eyes.. No need for the "as if". :-) >yet I am still "in" my body.... Unfortunately, I'm not the most accomplished OBE'er, so if you get any responses to this suggesting ways to launch into travelling from it, please let me know! (Take the NOSPAM out of my email addy to send me mail, yadda yadda). =) Craig The "other" Craig On Thu, 06 May 1999 23:56:12 -0700, Ann Marie Newell wrote: >Hi there, > >I just wanted to post about an experience I have been having very often >lately, and was wondering if anybody has similar experiences or any sort >of explanation for it.... I will see my pillows next to me, or some Something very similar did happen to me but since I'm not the most experimented at this I suppose I'll let you have your own conclusion; I was lying down without any particular desire to obtain OBE nor LD. Suddently I was somewhere whit someone with a long bearb. I think this was probably a LD but i'm not sure. The thing about this experience is that I had difficulties seeing anything clearly. After a few moments, I recognise the texture of my pilow in what was obstructing my view. Every where I was looking, the obstruction to my view was following like if it was attach to my "astral" or "dreaming" head. Anyway I had my best experimentation that time since I could "talk" to the fellow who was there and when I woked up, it was like everything was different! dg
