He was trying to get to the vibration stage when he suddenly heard a very loud scream coming from somewhere in his room! He had never been so frieghten in his life and he never tried again since. Has this happened to any of you? When a person is in a relaxed and slightly disassociated state they can sometimes get very vivid auditory and visual hallucinations. This state is called the hypnagogic state by psychologists. People who experience sleep paralysis also report these kinds of experiences as well. Many people who have OBE's report going into a similar state just prior to having an OBE. My guess is that this is a natural part of the vibrational state. Many people have described loud noises when they are in the vibrational state and nearing seperation. For me, I'll hear a schrill mechanical screaching noise. Some others have described hearing music. For each person it is different, although I'm not sure what determines it. I would assume that it is your subconcious interpretation of some phenomena that occurs during seperation. I would suspect that ones personal nature probably has something to do with how it is interpreted. As one moves out of their physical body one tends to increase one's psychic focus. Therefore they tend to be more clairvoyant and/or clairaudient. Someone who was OOB, or discarnate, may have screamed due to seeing your friend leaving his physical body. Sometimes physical people OOB, or discarnate OOB, will purposely try to scare "newbies" so that they remain in their bodies.
