Does this remind me of Alien abduction stories, or what! Craig, You know, the similarities between alien abductions and OOBE's are astounding. I am just starting to realize the comparisons, especially after listening to some alien abduction confessions on the Art Bell website (real audio files). They experience the same kind of paralysis, the vibrations, the "astral" entities, and even tunnels and lights, most of which have been experienced by people who OOBE. Although I don't doubt that those who claim to have been abducted actually believe what they are saying, I am starting to doubt my own perception of UFO's and their presence here. Do I believe that there is intelligent life out there? Yes. Do I believe that they are making contact with us (or that we are making contact them)? Yes I do. Do I believe that they are coming here in spaceships and teleporting poeple off the surface of our planet? I am not sure........ Being the skeptic that I am, I am pretty much open to investigate anything new. **For the record, I believe that most skeptics should take that approach. Most are skeptical and NOT open to anything new. They are firm in their beliefs and they end up being so close-minded, it makes me nauseous (sp?). Anyways, I said all of that to say this: there are so many similarities between the two (abductions and OOBE's) that it makes me wonder if those abductees are not actually people experiencing involuntary OOBE's, but are oblivious to what they really are. Think about it.....if you experienced all the symptoms of an OOBE, without knowing anything about them, the most common explanation may be that of "outside forces", doing something to us against our will. Something to think about..... <3 Jeff Mash <3 To email me, remove the "Astral4U" in the address. "There's nothing to fear except fear itself...Oh...plus rejection and physical harm!" Need a laugh? Again, this is total hypothetical thinking, and something to give your brain some exercise. I wish I was scholared in this area to formalute some kind of scientific properties regarding space. The only thing that comes to my head is the properties of Black Holes...and how some of these seem to vacuum up matter itself. Where does it go? Does it just disentigrate? Or is it teleported to another part of the universe? Since energy cannot be created or destroyed, and since no one has ever been in a black hole, we will never know the answer to this question (at least not in this day and age). But perhaps, if speaking about physcial space travel, intelligent beings have devised away to link together certain point in space making traveling from one distance easier......much like intersate highways connect you to your destination faster than backroads will. The only movies that I can think of that relate to this sort of thing is Stargate and........crap, something else but I cant remember. All I remember is that the actor took a piece of paper, drew two points on either end, and then proposed a question: What is the fastest way to get from one point to another? One man answered, "A straight line" "Wrong", said the scientist. He then proceeded to fold the paper, so the top end was now aligned with the bottom end. He then poked a hole through the paper, showing that when folded, one could go from top to bottom instantly by poking through both layers of paper. I suppose space may be able to do the same.....if possible, it certainly would make space travel a lot faster! I am just starting to realize the comparisons, especially after > listening to some alien abduction confessions on the Art Bell website (real > audio files). Yeah. I know what you mean. I sort of got interested, in the very beginning, in OBE's after reading 'Communion' by Whitley Stryber. (SP?) He writes about getting OOB and being able to 'see' the energy being released from power lines, then goes on to say he flies over these huge alien cities, where there are these huge parks filled with beings. It makes you wonder if they truly are aliens not from earth, or maybe 'aliens' from some other dimension who can visit us physically somehow. He never followed this line of thought though. Oh, he also said that the 'aliens' had some sort of interest in his cat, from memory. I must read those books of his again. Can't usually get to sleep after reading them though. ;-) > They experience the same kind of paralysis, the vibrations, the > "astral" entities, and even tunnels and lights, most of which have been > experienced by people who OOBE. Yeah, I think people will always tend to draw conclusions based on their own personal experience and try to make sense of the experience from that. So, for people who say they have been abducted, maybe that is there way of interpreting and OBE. Dunno, maybe they really did get abducted. > Do I believe that there is intelligent life out there? Yes. Shit yeah. ;-) > Do I believe that they are making contact with us (or that we are making > contact them)? Yes I do. Hmmmm, dunno about that though. Although, just a thought, who's to say these 'aliens' aren't visiting and contacting us over great distances telepathically or even astrally. :-) > Do I believe that they are coming here in spaceships and teleporting poeple off > the surface of our planet? Event Horizon... that was the movie... sucked, but was a nice theory. a nice movie on quick transportation was Contact... I liked it a lot (not like most people I heard of) and by the way... a nice black hole theory was once spoken to me... in order to accelerate rapidly in space, you create a small black hole in front of your space craft with your brand new Black hole Generator 2000, and you let it pull you in. the acceleration approaches the speed of light. and just before the black hole suck the ship, you close it.. (shut down the generator .. whatever) and the black hole will disapear (hope so) and you will keep the acceleration. to stop, same thing, in reverse. gottal love this little device! sold in a store near you this christmas! -- Life-Saver life-saver@geocities.com http://www.geocities.com/area51/lair/5498 ###### Message-ID: <365E0FE0.7E4D@geocities.com> From: Life-Saver Reply-To: life-saver@geocities.com Organization: none X-Mailer: Mozilla 3.01Gold (Win95; I) MIME-Version: 1.0 Newsgroups: alt.out-of-body Subject: Re: seeing shadows, what the hell?!?! Contact. Is that the movie you're thinking of? :-) Where they get the plans for the alien craft from a message picked up by SETI. Great movie!! I think that craft folded space in the way you explained by the piece of paper. That is such a good way to explain that, btw. I've seen that somewhere. Was it in the movie? If you think of the way huge astronomical bodies bend light by gravity, it makes it seem almost possible that we will one day discover how to bend space/time and use that for travel in this way. Maybe that IS how we travel astrally, only it's such a naturally inherited thing, we just take it for granted. :-) All the best Craig Spicy Jem wrote: > > Dear Craig, > > >> Do I believe that they are making contact with us (or that we are making > >> contact them)?
