(G)) on a new book entitled 'The Reiki and Crystal Workbook'. Originally it was to have been published a few months ago but various technical challenges (including my text file becoming corrupted) and a personal transition delayed its entry into the world. Now - fortunately - the book is back on course for publication within the next 2-3 months. My upcoming book is going to include a comprehensive Resource Directory for the following therapies:- Reiki Therapists Crystal Healers Sound Therapist Color Therapists Past-Life Regressionists Aromatherapists The Reiki and Crystal Workbook is going to be published by the Atlantean Publishing Association and I shall be making a small charge for each entry. But as it is planned to sell many thousands of copies each entry will be seen by a very large number of people. If you would like to be included in the Resource Directory please send me a private email:- asclepus@netcomuk.co.uk for further information. With many blessings Aesclepius ###### From: "Bart" Newsgroups: alt.out-of-body Subject: Re: Reiki and Crystal Workbook - Resource Directory Date: Sun, 1 Nov 1998 19:21:49 -0500 Organization: ICGNetcom Lines: 27 Message-ID: <71iu7c$1lo@sjx-ixn4.ix.netcom.com> References: <71ikji$b76$1@taliesin.netcom.net.uk> NNTP-Posting-Host: clv-oh42-23.ix.netcom.com X-NETCOM-Date: Sun Nov 01 4:26:20 PM PST 1998 X-Newsreader: Microsoft Outlook Express 4.72.3110.1 X-MimeOLE: Produced By Microsoft MimeOLE V4.72.3110.3 Path: chonsp.franklin.ch!pfaff.ethz.ch!news-zh.switch.ch!news.belnet.be!newsfeed.wirehub.nl!howland.erols.net!ix.netcom.com!news Aesclepius wrote in message <71ikji$b76$1@taliesin.netcom.net.uk>... >Hello, my dear friends .... not sure what that was all about since Aesclepius does not seem to be a regular here. But... one thing I was wondering about - isn't Reiki considered to be a type of "New-Age" thingy? I'm sure it is ancient in origin, but... What gets me is that I go to a lot of Christian based hospitals. I recently saw several flyers, advertising Reiki, taped to the walls of the hallways and elevators in a Catholic hospital. This really confused me. Now I see this individual associating crystals and other New-Age stuff with Reiki and it confuses me even more. I really don't have a problem with it - but I'm wondering why such stuff would show up in a Catholic based hospital. I mean, the place is run by nuns... Doesn't Reiki require a certain bit of faith that would not comfortably match with Christianity in the long run? Am I missing something here? AFAIK (not much, just what I heard from my sister who does Reiki): In the second half of the 19th century there was an japanese christian monk. He was asked by his pupils to demonstrate the wonders that christ performed. Of course he could not. This for him (japanese!) implied that there was something wrong with his religion. So he went off onto an soul search. While doing this he come over some ancient symbols and meditated on them. This lead to him developing healing powers which he then systematised and taught as Reiki. So Reiki is from an christian, so there is no conflict with the nuns. The new agers (my sister is border line new ager) simply picked Reiki up, as it is an method for developing self and healing. There exists and NG alt.healing.reiki, but when I peeked into it (February) it was one big flamewar over Reiki politics (particularly the high cost of training mandated by Reiki Alliance, the official body). For info on that I kept one of the few readable posts: http://neil.franklin.ch/Usenet/alt.healing.reiki/19980220_origin_of_Reiki_Alliance_and_our_Reiki_Journey -- home: neil@franklin.ch.remove http://neil.franklin.ch/ work: franklin@arch.ethz.ch.remove http://caad.arch.ethz.ch/~franklin/ Microsoft is Software Communism, Fight for GNU Freedom! ###### From: "Bart" Newsgroups: alt.out-of-body Subject: Re: Reiki and Crystal Workbook - Resource Directory Date: Mon, 2 Nov 1998 23:22:03 -0500 Organization: ICGNetcom Lines: 41 Message-ID: <71m0ku$ko5@dfw-ixnews9.ix.netcom.com> References: <71ikji$b76$1@taliesin.netcom.net.uk> <71iu7c$1lo@sjx-ixn4.ix.netcom.com> NNTP-Posting-Host: clv-oh40-35.ix.netcom.com X-NETCOM-Date: Mon Nov 02 10:26:06 PM CST 1998 X-Newsreader: Microsoft Outlook Express 4.72.3110.1 X-MimeOLE: Produced By Microsoft MimeOLE V4.72.3110.3 Path: chonsp.franklin.ch!pfaff.ethz.ch!news-zh.switch.ch!news.belnet.be!news-raspail.gip.net!news-peer.gip.net!news.gsl.net!gip.net!ix.netcom.com!news Neil Franklin wrote in message ... >"Bart" writes: >>Doesn't Reiki >> require a certain bit of faith that would not comfortably match with >> Christianity in the long run? Well thank you for the history lesson. It is quite interesting. I still have my doubts as to its match with Christianity, but I certainly appreciate what you've said here. Perhaps I should consider asking the nuns - of course, I should probably look a little deeper into the history myself before I do so. >There exists and NG alt.healing.reiki, but when I peeked into it >(February) it was one big flamewar over Reiki politics (particularly >the high cost of training mandated by Reiki Alliance, the official >body).
