I have been reading this newsgroup for a couple of months now and I find it to be one of the most informative, supportive and friendly newsgroups that I subscribe to. I would like to become a poster to this newsgroup so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 40 years young, married and the mother of a 15 year old. Neither my husband nor my son are interested in OBEs so that leaves me to be the 'adventurer' of the family. My husband (bless his heart) simply smiles at me when I start jabbering excitedly about my latest OBE. I think that's why I enjoy reading about the successes or near misses posted here. I relate so well with the excitement (and the disappointment) that you all feel from time to time. I am by no means an expert on OBEs (I've only had a few) but I have become an avid reader on the subject (i.e., books, websites, newsgroups, etc.). I consider myself an "OBE trainee". ;) I will probably pop in now and again to make a comment.. but then who knows, if the astral spirits are kind, I may have an OBE of my own to post one day soon!! Most specifically the ones who come in asking for help and then asking for that help to be sent to their private e-mail address because they don't have time to read the newsgroup. I don't think Clarity falls under that catagory because she didn't directly ask for help and makes it clear that she intends to stick around and spend some time sharing with the group. Maybe we need to make another style of greeting for those who approach the newsgroup as Clarity did. But really, considering most poster's attitudes in this news group, I think we would prefer to genuinely welcome people like Clarity with a more personal greeting. I've only been reading this newsgroup for about 3 weeks but have been so engrossed by it (I did originally post a message under `OOBE First Timer'). Most of the other newsgroups I've read are full of flame mail and not that good. But this one is so civilised. Some of the experiences I've read so far have been fascinating. I am 26 years old, single (ahem) and I live near Manchester in the UK. I have always believed there to be more to life than just the physical (if there isn't then were in for one shock when we die). I've not had an OOBE yet but I'm sure when I do it will be a fantastic experience because it's taken so long to have my first one. I did have a sort of experience last night when I closed my eyes to go to sleep. I began to see this patterns (green I think and looked like small worms moving around together?) but this wore off after about a minute. Not sure if this was the start of anything though. So many have become friends and the NG has become so well organized. I rarely go to any other group now. We had a major disruption here a couple of months back, and every once in a while someone will come in here with an attitude (and sometimes I'll get an attitude too). But for the most part, it's like we're all kind of sitting in a circle holding hands :) Recently I went to alt.religion.hindu just to ask a question. I was totally ignored. I go back there at least once every day - but no answer to my question yet. Even in that group there is a lot of very flippant responses and people with their heads so far up in the clouds that they can't tell where their feet are. This group almost resembles some of the technical newsgroups where nobody really has a need to flame anybody. Almost everybody here is trying to learn and almost any input is welcome. I believe he lost his internet account shortly afterward as he has never been heard from since. I think it is much easier to bother an ISP about a certain individual than to attempt to mover furniture around in someones apartment. That's kind of tresspassing - don't you think? ;-) But, you know... I am beginning to think that some of us are getting better at what we've been doing by being here. Newbies come in and later tell us of their first success after reading our posts. Others who have been having OBE for years also express improvement after staying with the group for some time. I know I have. I fully intend to stay with this group. My main goal, at this time, is to learn to hit a target. I've been to a lot of very interesting locations in the Astral - but have very little success at hitting a physical location at a distance. With this group's support and recommendations, I think I'll eventually be able to find a way - even if I have to discover the method for myself. Just being in this newsgroup gives me the motivation to find answers to my questions within myself so that I might share them with others who have the same questions. I will find a way...
