Prior to my NDE, I had been doing a lot of inner soul searching about who I was and what I really felt this mortal life was all about. I have since read many books and have had many OOBE's and have a completely different view on life, death and everything in between. All I can say is I do life different. It has interfered with relationships the most I would say. Not that I wanted it to but it just has. I feel now that I hold out for much more put together individuals and it seems most of the people are married or unavailable in some capacity. I just told one of my long-time friends that I need a life. I thought that I would build a life in Sedona, Arizona when I could be around people who were much like me, but that isn't going to happen for a while now. So I have to make my life here. The problem is that I don't put up with much dysfunction in people anymore and there seems to be a lot of it going around here. I don't know if what I shared helps because I can't really relate it to a career as of yet. I can say that I know I can not ever work for anyone who makes money off of what I am doing. I also know that the business that I am doing right now, once it takes off will make me money. I feel very uncomfortable with it, but am learning how to accept the money as my survival but not my life's work. My life's work will be in service to others. If I can support myself in another capacity then I will be able to do this service for free "no charge" that would make me the happiest. To bad more people could be like this. I read an article the other day that said that good old Bill Gates could give everyone in the world $9.00 an still have money to spare. What a shame that people with money don't do more good in the world. Just trying to figure out "why" this is happening to me led me to learn many different things that I might not have even considered taking a look at. Things like the study of human evolution ... ideas in physics ... how human consciousness relates to our closest primate cousins ... the Tarot .. the occult ... various religions ... different spiritual views .... the list is endless and branches out into a variety of areas. Without OBEs, I may have thought that banking as a profession, and organized religion in my personal life, was the end-all be-all of my personal existance. At times .. I do feel segregated from others around me that don't experience the same thing. Those who listen, seem only to be amused and don't give it very much value. Others can be downright hostile. Still others, pat me on the head and excuse my eccentricities because the "rest of me" appears conservative. Personally .. my relationship with the world changes from day to day. Sometimes the mundane trivia of daily life truly tires me. Occasionally to the point of feeling bitterness because of the pointlessness of it all. Other times I'm completely fascinated by the world. Just seeing an ordinary seagull fly by captivates me, because I know how they feel when they fly. The specialness of even the simplest things fill me with wonder. At these moments, seeing another world doesn't dim this one. It merely makes me look for all the unique and wonderous things that are here. Some people rarely see a sunset. I don't think I've missed one in years. One big change that I think just about everyone can relate to is that I'm no longer able to just get up .. go to work .. come home .. watch a little TV ... and be satisfied until I die. So many people do that (the flock, I call them) without ever wondering why they're here, and where they're going. They accept what's been told to them (family tradition, morals, religion) without ever batting an eye. People who have OBEs have no direct belief system to fall within, because the majority of the population simply doesn't believe them. We need to find the answers ourselves ... all the while the answers, and the questions keep changing. It's a more confusing way to be .. and sometimes I do envy the flock ... but given the choice, I wouldn't have it any other way. Greetings from Florida .................... Do you mean, does it make you want to sit in a cave all day meditating and forsaking all else in life? I think withdrawn while others remain quite balanced or even more outgoing. It really depends on the person themselves. You know, kind of like the differences between A and B personalities. There ARE some people who begin to make choices in life to go farther with it and they discipline themselves to achieve those goals. Sometimes people DO have some very profound experiences that change the path of their lives. From what I've learned of NDEs, which tend to have the most powerfull OBEs, is that the change that takes place within the person is an opposite of their previous lifestyle. In other words - those who were once very responsible could become unattentive to the detail that was once so important to them. Those who were once irresponsible, become very organized and full of energy. Still working on that. I *did* have some very profound OOBE's and yes, they changed my outlook on life. I feel that I am "more" now. I feel that the universe or, "multiverse" is very wondrous and life is quite profound. I no longer take much for granted. If I see a flower I want to smell, I go ahead and smell it; it will soon fade. The day-to-day life is part of the existence of it all. It is not what you find in the end, but how great the journey was. If you look at everything as being unique and novel, then the journey is going well. Look at the blade of grass outside your door and just think: out of about 4 billion people on the planet, how many have actually looked at that blade of grass? Pick off a piece and hold it; it is your universe. ''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' M. At the time it made no difference except thinking I might be mad at first. Then I just accepted it and got a life. Didn't tell anybody for years for the usual reasons. Then retired early and decided to find out more about it. Since I have met up with this ng and been able to give this more time and thought it has brought into question my own belief system. Why? Because it (leaving the body) contradicts so many fundamental issues at the basis of my beliefs. It does not affect my daily doings much. The time i spend on the 'puter maybe I would spend doing something different obviously. I would love to give of that time to some *really good cause* but not that many around here. Those that have travelled to *really good causes* to do this have put there lives at risk in some foreign country. That is not for me. We have to go on living, eating, loving, supporting our families and children and enjoying life in all aspects. And yes, spiritual growth!!!!! I am now far more aware of that and its overall importance and am trying to do just that. What a profound question---------to have dragged me out of the woodwork. I wish you could drag me out of body just as easily :-) Jim ###### From: "Trish" Newsgroups: alt.out-of-body Subject: Re: Outlook on life Date: Sat, 8 Aug 1998 01:15:01 -0400 Organization: gte.net Lines: 18 Message-ID: <6qgmir$rde$1@news-2.news.gte.net> References: <6qd520$dd6$1@phys-ma.sol.co.uk> <6qdo3s$7kb$1@news-2.news.gte.net> <35CB17FF.9F38EAF@soundsculpture.com> NNTP-Posting-Host: 1cust159.tnt3.new-port-richey.fl.gt.uu.net X-Auth: D51097180A9ACD9C44C58491 X-Newsreader: Microsoft Outlook Express 4.71.1712.3 X-MimeOLE: Produced By Microsoft MimeOLE V4.72.2106.4 Path: ccw.ch!pfaff.ethz.ch!news-zh.switch.ch!news-ge.switch.ch!news.maxwell.syr.edu!newsfeed.internetmci.com!206.251.127.50!worldfeed.gte.net!newsfeed.gte.net!newsfeed2.gte.net.MISMATCH!news.gte.net!not-for-mail Ken Czepelka wrote in message <35CB17FF.9F38EAF@soundsculpture.com>... >Beautiful post Trish.
