For most who don't have WebTv, all they see is the coding (no pictures, sound, etc.). If you don't want to turn off your sig. to use a newsgroup, you might want to open an account with DejaNews and reply that way. Also if you go through DejaNews, you can incorporate the original post in your response along with your reply (it helps those who might not have caught the original thread). (just a thought) ;-) Oh, by the way.. welcome!! It's just that I don't see the two files at the bottom at all, they are just broken links, and when I do see your background, it makes it very difficult to see what you have written and what is quoted text. :-) I'm not sure how many other people see your posts like this, I s'pose it depends on who receives their News Group messages as html or not. :-) All the best Craig -- The sure way to make a thing impossible- -is to think it so. --- Franklin To respond, delete _nospam_ scrappy@_nospam_netconnect.com.au ###### Path: ccw.ch!usenet From: Neil Franklin Newsgroups: alt.out-of-body Subject: Re: Vibrations(Craig) Date: 30 Jul 1998 21:46:10 +0200 Organization: My own Private Self Lines: 92 Message-ID: References: <35BEBD04.1860AE33@the.end.of.message> <25168-35BF272C-5@newsd-102.iap.bryant.webtv.net> <35BFF945.C36D70EF@the.end.of.message> X-Newsreader: Gnus v5.3/Emacs 19.34 Craig writes: > > marx shadow wrote: > > > > Aw come on I worked hard on this sig! They (together with the rest of the HTML stuff) make your posts nearly unreadable. Actually to your good: - you at least have used links* to webbed graphics and have not included the graphics how some obnoxious people do. - you do not post the text in double (the second time with HTML intermixed in the text, or even worse only HTML mixed text. * actually this creates an other problem, namely that only people who leave their phone line connected while newsreading will get the pictures. Those that download and then read offline will in the best case get an "broken image" icon - nicely crafted signature fails. General rule: pictures are for the Web, not mail and news. > written and what is quoted text. :-) I'm not sure how many other people > see your posts like this, I s'pose it depends on who receives their News > Group messages as html or not. :-) It depends entirely on what type of newsreader the recipient is using. And whether it can decode the mess or not. MOST CAN NOT. To give you an example of what it looks like to the large mass of us, I have attached an marx post at the bottom of this one. Actually this is one of the more readable ones. -- home: Neil.Franklin@ccw.ch.remove http://www.ccw.ch/Neil.Franklin/ work: franklin@arch.ethz.ch.remove http://caad.arch.ethz.ch/~franklin/ *** It's true ! MS Word .DOC posts are the only ones than completely fail me. Makes it an out-of-crap message :-) > If people post in graffitti....er.... But that type of entirely unreadable is the result of your behaviour, not the state of the post. > My sig is a text sig so there is no reason a sig cannot be done that > way (i.e. "text"). ASCII text can do a lot more than many people believe. I have actually seen a program called "bb demo" using an technique called "aa lib" that can display animated video on an pure text screen (including the mug shots of its authors). Magnificient! There also exists an adaption of the game Doom (an fast action game) to use "aa lib". -- home: Neil.Franklin@ccw.ch.remove http://www.ccw.ch/Neil.Franklin/ work: franklin@arch.ethz.ch.remove http://caad.arch.ethz.ch/~franklin/ *** It's true !
