Last night when I was trying this these faint images would pop in my imagination and I would watch them and then all of a sudden they were real and there was talking and I had no idea I was dreaming anymore. This is when I slip into oblivious mode, but, luckily I sliped back to wakingness. While sliping back I heard a very loud steady sound tone quite different from the normal bell sounds I hear, but as I listened to it it gradually faded. Then I tried again and fell asleep. Here is my big question. How long does it sometimes take? If I spend 4 hours trying to watch this body fall asleep will I be very likely to have it happen or will I just not fall asleep at all? How long has it taken others who have made it for the first times using this method? It seems you are making some progress, Frod. As I recall from previous posts a few months ago, you didn't see these images. >This is when I slip into oblivious >mode, but, luckily I sliped back to wakingness. This is what I call, "Skimming the surface." As you continue to practice this "Skimming", I suspect you will eventually slide in between the physical and unconscious dream-state to be fully aware during the shift - hence, OBE... >Here is my big question. How long does it sometimes take? If >I spend 4 hours trying to watch this body fall asleep will I be very >likely to have it happen or will I just not fall asleep at all? Your question, "How long does it sometimes take?" is rather open... ANSWER - "It *sometimes* takes just a few moments - and - it *sometimes* takes a couple of hours - and - it *sometimes* doesn't happen at all during that seperate attempt." Every attempt is tied together with the previous attempts. >How long has it taken others who have made it for the first times >using this method? Funny... it happened for me the very first time I tried because I knew this was the way to go - and did not just read about it as a technique. I think I also just happened to be in the right frame of mind at the time because I wasn't able to do it again for several weeks. I keep falling back to the same analogy. It's like learning to ride a bike. You need to learn about your own body and your conscious interaction with it in order to learn how to let go of it. Nobody can do that for you - it's all a matter of self study. Bart , How often are you able to go astral? once the body is use to that mode does it get to the point where u can go pretty much at will? Or does it depend on mind frame always? Remaining motivated for that period and beyond is the difficult part, which is why I created "DREAMQUEST!" The techniques that are freely available on the Internet, don't seem to be enough. Coaching and motivation over a sustained period is also required. Only thing is though, I usually actually fall asleep for a while, maybe a minute, then realize I have fallen asleep and wake myself up. You know, you get to that point sometimes when you suddenly realize you are asleep and it wakes you up. At this point I wake up to the buzzing and the vibrations and I'm on my way. :-) All the best Craig ###### From: bartma12@ix.netcom.com(Bart Scott) Newsgroups: alt.out-of-body Subject: Re: Body falls asleep/mind stays awake Date: 3 Jul 1998 12:41:44 GMT Organization: ICGNetcom Lines: 20 Message-ID: <6niji8$j9k@sjx-ixn1.ix.netcom.com> References: <6ng4fk$9ei@sjx-ixn10.ix.netcom.com> <1998070218275500.OAA16104@ladder03.news.aol.com> NNTP-Posting-Host: clv-oh40-22.ix.netcom.com X-NETCOM-Date: Fri Jul 03 5:41:44 AM PDT 1998 Path: ccw.ch!pfaff.ethz.ch!news-zh.switch.ch!news-ge.switch.ch!news.maxwell.syr.edu!netnews.com!ix.netcom.com!news In <1998070218275500.OAA16104@ladder03.news.aol.com> stonelvr@aol.com (StoneLvr) writes: >Bart , > > How often are you able to go astral? once the body is use to >that mode does it get to the point where u can go pretty much at will? > Or does it depend on mind frame always? > >Stone I'm still learning to ride my bike ;-) I still fall over... It's still an effort. If I were able to do it at will, every single time, I probably wouldn't be here in this group. Bart
