I assume that was Don DeGracias text on "OOBE by trance method" you were reading (http://www.execpc.com/~mholmes/do-obe/ap_05.txt). He writes of seeing yellow pin pricks (ideoretinal light) behind his eyelids when his eyes are closed. He also writes that he sees them even with open eyes. He also writes there of an flash or purple. I see something which I think is what he is talking about. I looks like the picture on an cheap B/W TV that is tuned to show an "empty" station, but a lot fainter. And I also with open eyes in not-too-strong daylight, when focusing strongly on an larger one-coloured surface, see this superimposed over the picture. Also I see purple fog-like ghosting when my eyes are closed (note: I am not talking about afterimages). > When I try to project, I go into a trance state (?) and then feel my body > get heavy. Then I try to get out of my body but then I realise that I am > moving my phsyical body and break my trance/relaxion state. So far I have also got with this method. I think it is from not going deep enough into trance. I need to relax more. > Am I trying to hard and/or is there another method somebody can suggest. I would say you are not trying enough. He writes that you _really_ need to subconciously _want_ to go OOB for this method to work. At the moment I am trying it (far too seldom) in the hope to programm into my subconcious, that I really do want to go, leading to going OOB when I have done this long enough. -- private: Neil.Franklin@ccw.ch.remove http://www.ccw.ch/Neil.Franklin/ office: franklin@arch.ethz.ch.remove http://caad.arch.ethz.ch/~franklin/ This computer has 2 cats, one in /bin, one on top purring. ###### Path: ccw.ch!elna.ethz.ch!news-zh.switch.ch!news-ge.switch.ch!news-fra1.dfn.de!news-was.dfn.de!nntp-out.monmouth.com!newspeer.monmouth.com!news.msfc.nasa.gov!newsfeed.internetmci.com!204.59.152.222!news-peer.gip.net!news.gsl.net!gip.net!portc01.blue.aol.com!audrey03.news.aol.com!not-for-mail From: meronakeep@aol.com (Meronakeep) Newsgroups: alt.out-of-body Subject: Re: newbie question Lines: 18 Message-ID: <1998042723154400.TAA18187@ladder03.news.aol.com> NNTP-Posting-Host: ladder03.news.aol.com X-Admin: news@aol.com Date: 27 Apr 1998 23:15:44 GMT Organization: AOL http://www.aol.com References: <893681254.447998@proxy.netactive.co.za> >I have been reading books about obe and one mentioned yellow pin pricks of >light and pictures that appear on your eyelids while your eyes are shut.I >just wanted to know if anybody has experienced this phenomena. What you describe is remarkably like what happens to me when I try!!! What usually happens is that I sit on my bed at night when it's pitch black, and focus on whatever Really hard for five or so minutes (My eyes start to hurt, but still...) and then all of a sudden I stop and glaze over as if just to rest my eyes from all the focusing. I then go into a "trance" and start feeling completely detached from my body and a couple times I even felt almost frigid. I will myself to leave that body of mine and it doesn't work... Makes me angry. I wish that it was known to us how to get past that! ###### Path: ccw.ch!elna.ethz.ch!news-zh.switch.ch!news.belnet.be!news-penn.gip.net!news-peer.gip.net!news.gsl.net!gip.net!cpk-news-hub1.bbnplanet.com!news.bbnplanet.com!newsfeed.gte.net!nntp.flash.net!excalibur.flash.net!not-for-mail From: "Evelyn" Newsgroups: alt.out-of-body Subject: Re: newbie question Date: 28 Apr 1998 01:48:58 GMT Organization: Flashnet Communications, http://www.flash.net Lines: 73 Message-ID: <01bd7249$0cebc900$204f1ed1@logmein.flash.net> References: <893681254.447998@proxy.netactive.co.za> <3544E1E2.D7162168@ccw.ch.remove> NNTP-Posting-Host: lash16-32.flash.net X-Newsreader: Microsoft Internet News 4.70.1155 Neil Franklin wrote in article <3544E1E2.D7162168@ccw.ch.remove>... > Christopher Pallant wrote: > > > > I have been reading books about obe and one mentioned yellow pin pricks of > > light and pictures that appear on your eyelids while your eyes are shut.I > > just wanted to know if anybody has experienced this phenomena. > > I assume that was Don DeGracias text on "OOBE by trance method" you were > reading (http://www.execpc.com/~mholmes/do-obe/ap_05.txt). Also, every since I started conscious OBE in December I see a blue spot flash for a second in the middle of my vision sometimes as I go about my day to day activities. Just before going out of body, I sometimes see spots of light like xmas lights, different colors depending on the event. One time I saw white flashes of light seemingly from far away, but that time I did not make it past vibrations as they were so strong as to break my relaxed attitude. > > > When I try to project, I go into a trance state (?) and then feel my body > > get heavy. Then I try to get out of my body but then I realise that I am > > moving my phsyical body and break my trance/relaxion state. > Hmm, you may want to try not consciously trying to move your body. I just lay there until parts of my body start to float around during the vibrations. Then I will think something like "hmm, now is a good time to try and get out." and I will come out with just that thought. Don't try to tell yourself to move, just allow yourself to come out when its time. It's more of a passive thing. Like when you float on top of water on your back. You don't make yourself float, you just relax and let it happen. At least that is the way it seems for me! > So far I have also got with this method. They aren't on the eyelids. They are farther back in and beyond the retina. For technique purposes, it's best to get away from the habit of using your physical eyes to see. Move back into where you actually experience vision else you wind up having a very unclear OBE where you fight to see by opening one eye, struggling to open the other, then the first eye shuts and the other opens, but not enough so you try to open the first and the second one shuts.... and so forth. Real pain in the, um, er, vision area... >> I assume that was Don DeGracias text on "OOBE by trance method" you >>were reading (http://www.execpc.com/~mholmes/do-obe/ap_05.txt). Yep, pretty common there - but they can be green too, or just about any soft color. I would venture to say that they appear almost as somewhat irregular smoke rings either coming toward you or going away - right? >every since I >started conscious OBE in December I see a blue spot flash for a second >in the middle of my vision sometimes as I go about my day to day >activities. Interesting... I see that dot quite often. It sometimes sticks around for a lot longer than a second and doesn't always remain in the center. Like it is off on the side watching me :-) I've seen it while 'OBE' too. Quite a bit of difference at that point. Much brighter, larger, and sometimes you can talk to it or just fly into it for another shift. This light is mentioned in many texts, and from my own experience, I think it is worthy of paying attention to. Light and sound are important things to investigate while exploring the various regions of consciousness. Yeah, sometimes it is a little off to the side of where I was looking, but then I get the weird feeling that I was really looking in the direction of the dot but wasn't aware of it. Hard to explain. I sometimes see it when my eyes are closed too, like in the shower. Haven't seen it when OBE though, but I am just starting so we'll see! The main problem at the moment is drifing off on a thought, it becoming a daydream, a dream (an non-lucid one), sleep. And the one time the vibrations set in I tried too much to control them and they faded, came a bit, then went completely. More training needed. > You don't make yourself float, you just relax and let it happen. At least > that is the way it seems for me!
