I've been through the Gateway program and did not have an OBE. In fact, few people do that go through the program. Was it worth going? Yes, absolutely. I was able to fellowship with like-minded people from all over the world. In my group of 21, there were people from Spain, Switzerland, England, Australia, the Netherlands, Puerto Rico, South Africa, and from all over the U.S. The talks we had together in the evening were well worth the cost of the trip. Also, the Institute is set in some of the most beautiful countryside I've ever seen. I would have paid just as much for a vacation at some resort and not had as much fun. Voyagers tend to bond together in special ways and I still keep in touch with several after two years... But the bottom line is: don't go if you'll be disappointed at not having an OBE. Some people are more responsive to hemi-sync technology than others. Work with the tapes at home first and see what they do for you. Also, some of the higher level M.I. programs are geared more toward classic OBE experiences -- but you have to go through Gateway first. M.I. has a series of tapes called "Going Home" which are available to the public and were made for terminally ill people so they could experience the OBE state and lose their fear of death. I've been working with them off and on, but still without success. They are about $150 for the set, but it's cheaper than going to the Institute for a week. My only adult OBE (I had one as a child) occured without the help of any tapes or other gadgets, and before I went to the Institute. I'm convinced anybody can have these with practice and desire. Just learn about them, think about them, and be ready when the opportunity presents itself... ###### From: jcalderon1@aol.com (Jcalderon1) Newsgroups: alt.out-of-body Subject: Re: Monroe Institute review Date: 26 Jan 1998 01:59:17 GMT Lines: 4 Message-ID: <19980126015900.UAA19871@ladder02.news.aol.com> NNTP-Posting-Host: ladder02.news.aol.com X-Admin: news@aol.com Organization: AOL http://www.aol.com References: <19980125235301.SAA29816@ladder01.news.aol.com> Path: ccw.ch!aetna.dolphins.ch!news.planetc.com!newsfeed.usit.net!news-spur1.maxwell.syr.edu!news.maxwell.syr.edu!newsfeed.internetmci.com!152.163.199.19!portc03.blue.aol.com!audrey02.news.aol.com!not-for-mail Thanks for the info. It's good to hear from someone who has gone through the program. -Jorge Calderon ###### From: Donald Isenor Newsgroups: alt.out-of-body Subject: Re: Monroe Institute review Date: Mon, 26 Jan 1998 23:09:50 -0500 Organization: Bell Solutions Lines: 9 Message-ID: <34CD5E0D.95773EFD@computer.org> References: <19980125235301.SAA29816@ladder01.news.aol.com> NNTP-Posting-Host: 206.172.192.35 Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit X-Trace: news21.bellglobal.com 885874258 8811 (None) 206.172.192.35 X-Complaints-To: usenet@news20.bellglobal.com X-Mailer: Mozilla 4.04 [en] (Win95; I) Path: ccw.ch!aetna.dolphins.ch!news.planetc.com!newsfeed.usit.net!news-dc-3.sprintlink.net!news-dc-1.sprintlink.net!news-east.sprintlink.net!news-peer.sprintlink.net!news.sprintlink.net!Sprint!newsfeed.internetmci.com!206.172.150.11!news1.bellglobal.com!news20.bellglobal.com!not-for-mail I just purchased the first "Gateway Experience" package from the Monroe Institute. It's a series of six "discoveries" on three CDs. Right now I'm starting on the first discovery, which is an introduction to hemi-sync and teaches some basic relaxation and meditation techniques. The fifth discovery is apparently designed to induce the OBE for the first time, although the Monroe Institute makes no promises that it will do so. I plan to take my time, so it will be weeks and maybe months before I get throug all six lessons. If there's an interest (mail me or post a follow-up), I'd be happy to post regular updates. ###### From: "Evelyn" Newsgroups: alt.out-of-body Subject: Re: Monroe Institute review Date: 27 Jan 1998 07:47:07 GMT Organization: Flashnet Communications, http://www.flash.net Lines: 12 Message-ID: <01bd2af8$5b5699a0$764c1ed1@logmein.flash.net> References: <19980125235301.SAA29816@ladder01.news.aol.com> <34CD5E0D.95773EFD@computer.org> NNTP-Posting-Host: lash8-118.flash.net X-Newsreader: Microsoft Internet News 4.70.1155 Path: ccw.ch!aetna.dolphins.ch!news.planetc.com!newsfeed.usit.net!news.he.net!nntp.flash.net!excalibur.flash.net!not-for-mail Donald Isenor wrote in article <34CD5E0D.95773EFD@computer.org>... > I just purchased the first "Gateway Experience" package from the Monroe Institute. >I'd be happy to post regular updates.
