I tried for a brief moment to use your right eye closes first method, and almost automaticcally my eyelids started to blink and *move* while closing my eyes, and I did see sorta "Hypagogic" imagery... when you do it, does this *vibretional* blinking happens? does your eyelids move, or do they stay still? btw, when you sleep, momentary awaknings always occur (between REM sleeps), though we cant remember them. here Silk Dick post: Yo! This is my first post on a "newsgroup", although I used to be quite active on Fidonet, and run my own BBS, "Cyber Dreams", at 615-895-7608. I've been practicing enhancing my dream control, OOBEs, Astral Projection, etc., and have found a few very interesting points which I'd like to enumerate here. Feel free to try these ideas yourself, and please let me know how they work for you |-) ... (a dreaming smiley) #1. When going to sleep, or even if only taking a brief catnap, ALWAYS CLOSE your RIGHT EYE FIRST! When waking up, ALWAYS OPEN RIGHT EYE FIRST! now you're probably wondering, "what kind of nonsense is this?" For the moment, let's just call it an "accidental discovery." When I was very young, (around 7 or 8?) I used to worry about things like "which eye should I close first?" Yes, it's a seemingly stupid question, but in a childlike way I simply resolved to close my right eye first, and open my right eye first upon waking. Once I had that settled, I promptly forgot about it and continued on with my life. Years later, I'm in my late 20's, early 30's, and I find myself having serious problems weighing upon my mind, and finding my sleep patterns to be greatly disturbed because of this. And into these worries what question should reappear in amongst the chaos of my thoughts? "Which eye should I shut first before going to sleep? Which eyelid closes first when I blink? is it a race? a tie? do they switch off?" etc... and for some unexplicable reason, the same answer appeared to me as when I was a child, "close your right eye first." This was eventually followed with the logical follow-up: "open your right eye first." Heck, I was in pretty sad shape, both mentally, emotionally, and in every other way you could think of, so I thought "what the hell? I'll try it!" What happened next was nothing short of a miracle! I closed my right eye, then my left, inhaled, exhaled, and I experienced an "echo/reverberation" of the thought "always close right eye first" which resonated throughout my very soul! Suddenly, as if by magic, I found utter peace and tranquility, being "in the center" of the thought that had just reverbed throught my body, the waves all having resonated outwards, like what you see when you throw a pebble into a pond: the rings all spreading outwards, and the center being very still and calm. All my worries and troubles disappeared; I relaxed, continued to breathe deeply and in a very relaxed fashion, and I experienced the *JOY* of *silence* and stillness within my mind! It was simply *Beautiful!* Further results: To this day, I have stayed true to that rule. Even when I blink, I automatically close my right eye first, and open it first as well. It has become pure instinct. The act of consciously reminding one's self *of the act* causes you to focus your very being as kind of pushing up your right eyelid. Every once in a while, when things are going super well in my life, I *may* allow myself one moment / one catnap / reflection in which I close my left eye first and open it first, but to be honest with you, it's very much like the feeling of a vegetarian contemplating devouring a piece of meat.... it just loses its appeal (closing left eye first loses its appeal). Another VALUABLE result: You can INSTANTLY go into REM sleep! No kidding! Perhaps it is merely a self-induced hypnotic suggestion, but it WORKS! Even as I am typing this line, my eyes are shut, and I am experiencing REM sleep! (any typos?) (Nope!) :) (okay, eyes open again...) PLEASE do NOT underestimate the value of this technique!!! Being able to INSTANTLY drop into REM sleep, while maintaining full mental alertness is an INCREDIBLE joy! You can go into a sleep-lab and FREAK the lab technicians!! :-) But most importantly, in anywhere from one to 5 to even 15 minutes, you can experience a "full refreshment" recharge, equivalent to a full night's sleep, if you need it. But I don't recommend making it a habit, as your constitution *may* require a full regular night's sleep in order to maintain balance. But in an emergency or high-stress situation, it can really help!! #1b) Dream Recall: When you first try this, if you need help remembering what you dreamed of "last night," ask yourself this simple question: "What have I experienced since the time I closed my right eye until just now, when I opened my right eye?" In essence, this "act" of closing and opening the right eye first has the effect of reducing your whole night's sleep to nothing more than a simple BLINK!! Close, sleep/dream, open. Close (blink) open. See? Now you may ask yourself an easier question: "what did I just think/dream of / experience during that blink?" The answer usually arrives like... "Lessee here... I closed my eyes (right first, obviously), went into REM, and began drifting into thoughts of..." etc. , and "I just opened my right eye, and the last thing I was doing before that was..." etc. #2) Astral projections / Images. After you get into this habit, you'll eventually begin to notice "film clips" or images of some kind, as if your eyelid (mind, actually) is some kind of a 3-D projection screen. I have on occasion gotten "into" the scene, and experience a very high quality lucid dream. Other times, I merely try to take as many notes as to what it is I'm "seeing" as quickly as possible, and (where I'm at now...) also try to control the "speed" at which the data is revealed to your mind. I believe this "timing control" will prove to be of FAR more value in the future as I gain experience with it. Enough for now. Merry Christmas :-) (Season's Greetings, etc...) ###### From: silkdick@aol.com (Silk Dick) Newsgroups: alt.out-of-body Subject: Re: Recall Tips Date: 5 Jan 1998 06:36:23 GMT Lines: 58 Message-ID: <19980105063600.BAA21234@ladder01.news.aol.com> NNTP-Posting-Host: ladder01.news.aol.com X-Admin: news@aol.com References: <34AF0D3E.56EF@inter.net.il> Organization: AOL http://www.aol.com X-Newsreader: AOL Offline Reader Path: ccw.ch!aetna.dolphins.ch!news.planetc.com!leto.ou.edu!hammer.uoregon.edu!logbridge.uoregon.edu!newsfeed.internetmci.com!152.163.199.19!portc03.blue.aol.com!audrey01.news.aol.com!not-for-mail In article <34AF0D3E.56EF@inter.net.il>, Gilad Stark writes: >(This is a Re: to Silk's old post, and since Silk has no time to re-post that famous'(?) post, I found it on DejaNews.com, so here's my Reply as well as the WHOLE post.) With only a few minutes of serious practice, you'll even find yourself BLINKING by closing right eye first, opening right eye first... I don't recall if I mentioned this or not, but: once both eyes are closed, try "doing it again" by closing your eyelids *tighter* than they already are, then relaxing them, right eye first, then left eye, then opening them right eye first, then left eye. That seems to be the REAL key to the success of the technique. It really is amazing! :-) *Instant REM!* >when you do it, does this *vibrational* blinking happen? do your eyelids move, or do they stay still? [forgive me for editing the grammar ... bad habit, but call it an idiosyncracy...] to answer your question: Yes, the eyelids move. one time, they were in such a *wave* of REM that they blinked themselves open! I had to take a deep breath and re-start. But note: if your eyes *do* blink themselves open, let them. Get up and go do something productive, and when you're in a restful mood later, try it again. You'll find that your cat naps may get shorter, as this method seems to refresh me a LOT faster than just simple napping. Someone might wish to try timing this difference in a lab, but I'm not that well-equipped to do the study myself. >btw, when you sleep, momentary awaknings always occur (between REM sleeps), though we cant remember them. perhaps this is why my eyes fluttered open? since the "right eye" technique induces instant REM in a conscious state, perhaps the eyelids fluttering open are equivalent to the "momentary awakenings" you mention above? ??? interesting! .....
