Was out shopping at a busy mall (yeah, yeah) on Saturday ...

Walking into one shop, a lady was walking out at the same 
time .. she appeared to be a child of the 60s (which I am)
and unafraid to go grey ...[I'm going grey, but being blond, 
you can't see it <grin>]

She fixed my eye (for it was hurting) and nodded ....

Being in a zombie mood., it took me a few seconds .. I look
round to ask a question, and she's gone ..

So we'll never know ..

photographer (female) stayed overnight in the neighbourhood, and
in the morning came into my house and brought a laptop computer
in with her to show me some images.  The laptop had been kept in
her car overnight, and when she attempted to boot it, it would
not boot -- to her expressed displeasure.  She said it had been a
problem machine and had been in the shop before.  She didn't have
a line-voltage power source, so I stuck my hands on the laptop,
top and bottom, just to try to transfer ordinary body warmth to
the battery.  Then she tried it again, and it booted normally --
at which point, out of the blue, she exclaimed that I must be a
Reiki master!  Well, you probably know my attitude -- it would
take a *lot* for me to regard anyone, certainly myself, as a
"master," and at that point (a year or 18 months after my first
attunement, I *definitely* did not ascribed the title to myself.
Still don't.  So I said "oh, no."

It was curious, though, because she and I had never dsicussed
Reiki, and I have no Reiki paraphernailia in the house.

I'm newish to this group and find the delightfully non/supportive emails
wonderfully entertaining.

I may cover a lot of "old ground" - but something that springs to mind about
the "master" thing, is a "definition" of a reiki master which I love - it's
by William Lee Rand who attuned me - "A reiki master is not one who has
mastered reiki, rather one whom reiki is mastering" ..... like that one a
lot.

very often the  best thing to do is to lie down the decks ..
  than from people's reaction   you know what to do
  I have a lovely american lady in the building
  and she is very discreet and very oriental and she loves whites
flowers a lot and  sometimes I feel olibanum or Vatican incens
smoldering in the house... and I am wondering ..
  and few days ago I was in her house and ..
  I found a fantastic  indian  closet
  all wood painted with on each panel the yogy drawings of the human
body with chackras as we have in some books about Chachras
  and once I freely talked with her bout reaiki she said she does as well
  but all stop there no farther discusion .. so now she knows ,if she
does not go further I am warned she does not like to ..

  Beside of some reiki & Zen  books on my night table  and a Tankra
and a Buddha
  I have the 5 precepts  written on a birch bark  something 8 " size
and that's all  and  Cheaschire cat stauette form Alice in wonderland
and a dream catcher on my wall

I can only speak for myself.  I like simplicity and would rather
just be natural and be myself.

I enjoy participating in this newsgroup, when I have time, and
chatting here with other Reiki folks.

But when Reiki comes into a situation in my life, it does so
naturally, not because I have a photo of Usui in my living room
or because I'm attached to some self-image as "a Reiki person."

Hi, Garry

When I wrote that, I was thinking of things like a photo of Usui
on the wall or the Reiki precepts printed on a wallhanging (or
even just some Reiki books lying around).  I suppose it might
sometimes be a massage table in evidence.  Dunno.

Not that I have any objection to any of the above.  They're fine,
just meant that they aren't there in my house.

I believe you have posted here before, but actually I can't
recall the specific threads you were part of.  My presence here
has been scant in the past couple months.

When you write that you "find the delightfully non/supportive
emails wonderfully entertaining.," what do you mean? 

When I've exchanged e-mails with the people who post here, I've
usually found their e-mails to me to be forthright and helpful.
Generally I've found we are groping after the same things, and
feel positive about Reiki.

I didn't type non-supportive, I typed non/supportive - i.e. both sorts!
I have a warped sense of humour which gets me into a great deal of hot water
here and there - fortunately I love warm baths .....
Seriously tho' (never!) - I love the exchange of ideas and associations, of
loving energy and interest, of humor - and shared thoughts.  If they
entertain me - well, I don't think we're humor police, are we?  Of course we
may be ...... in which case you'll probably bar me (it has happened before!)

And as to feeling positive about reiki - you bet I agree with you.

Ah! Thanks for making that clear. At the time I was wondering if you
were referring to crystals, incense, candles, chakra posters,
pyramids, singing bowls, angel statues and all the other things people
"add on" and cover with the Reiki name. 

That said, I will admit <eh-HUM!> to being in possession of and
occasional use of a singing bowl, various artforms decorated with
dragons including a painted/woodburned gourd and a dragon with a
crystal pearl in its mouth perched atop a bed of amythest, a candle
with Chinese characters on it, a Virgen de Guadalupe candle, diablo
ceramics from Mexico, shelves and shelves of books, several feet of
which are devoted to Reiki, Traditional Chinese Medicine, qigong,
taijiquan, and feng shui, aromatherapy oils, smudge sticks, massage
table.....*but* I don't call any of those things Reiki!  :-)

Steven, I'm afraid that's a 404. I also tried .com and .net with no

i have "alice in wonderland" art up too. alice is peering over the mushroom,
the hooking smoking caterpillar is looking down at her and asks "in a
languid sleepy voice-'who are you?'"    my apartment also has a half-door
leading to a closet for which i don't have the key (as it is my landlords
closet). i made a sign (to hang on the doorknob) with an image of alice
approaching the miniature door with the little golden key in hand.

maybe for me there is a dreamy altered reality theme that alice's wonderland
shares with the world of reiki. ? or just coincidence.

  this is amazing few years ago I bought a necklace ads teh lasp was a
tiny Torai shaped impral jade bar and had a gourd hanging
  the encklace was made with silver beads and pink and pearl tormaline

piece anyway
  and I relized that teh Toari T bar that formed teh clasp has to be
introduced into a ring of carved pink tormaline
  The ring of pink tourimaline was in fact a coiled pink dragon

  the size of the whole thing is about a quarter coin size .
  So I start wearing the ring inside  a chain and the gourd as well

carefully placed  and turned my back
  and I heard a sound a vibe
  tsbing!!!!!
I turned  my head to the source of sound and sow  the dragon was
broken in 3 pieces.. !!!!!

  A buddhist lady told me it absorbed some bad energy aimed to me
  I still have all the pieces glued together and I am thinking since
then how to frame them in gold all together
  the gourd I wear it sparingly
  what is the gourd significance? someone told me it means
thepossibility for the soul  to reincarnate is it true?

  Often wise men statues hold that gourd that was in reality a water
or wine container .
  The end the story
  after having purchased that necklace I was in paris at Jardin des
plantes and there was a chinese exibition and they had exactly the
same necklace shown on a bust in a show case  it was an antique piece
the like of   mine

  I love alice in wonderland and see it often  as my grand doughter 3
1/2 adore it
  but she loves all the time me to make drawings of witches and ghosts
quite unusual for such a young  girl ...

The woman was probably a witch. I have had similar experiences a number of times
& the person usually identified their self as a White Witch & assumed that I was
one also. 

Or she may just be attracted to mature men. :) I was going to make a joke about
your elderly appearance when the thought crossed my mind that 4 of my children
are children of the 60's.
