I have not been able to participate much less even read posts here as of late, work has been very busy for me. I wanted to take a moment and share a recent Reiki experience. As I mentioned, work has been very busy - not only massage clients but with respect to business development. I've been learning new programs, and that task alone has consumed more free time than I usually allow. These last several weeks I have been arriving at my massage office around 8:30 - 9:00 a.m., only to leave at 9 p.m., and then continuing with computer work until midnight or so. Some of the results of my recent labor can be found here: http://www.metareiki.org/3d/ Wednesday night was no exception, in fact because I was actually beginning to make progress (as illustrated with the above link) adrenaline kicked in and sleep was no where in sight. I forced myself to turn off the computer at 2:30 a.m. and go to bed. Thursday morning I found myself somewhere in between sleeping and waking consciousness, and then suddenly a powerful surge of Reiki flowed through my entire being. I was simply enjoying the freedom that state of mind allows and for no reason apparent to me the Reiki flow activated, leaving me with an incredibly energized state of body and mind. Fatigue was not present, nor the sluggishness present when I usually crawl out of bed. I got up with perfect energy, showered and took care of regular morning business, and noticed the clock. It was 6:30 a.m. Well I certainly didn't want to go into the office that early, nor did I want to push myself on the laptop more than I had been. So I decided to simply enjoy the morning, relax, watch TV, and basically not do anything until 9 a.m. So by 9 a.m. I was in the office and it was a usual day. Nothing out of the ordinary, and still feeling the Reiki Rush from the morning, I decided to go home early. I should interject at this point that I live in what is called a Residential Hotel. These are hotels in San Francisco that offer some of their rooms to individuals who do not want or can not afford regular housing (such as an apartment). Although I have a private, warm, quiet, and cozy room, the bathroom is shared with some tourists and the other resident on the floor. Around 8:40 p.m. or so I completed my shower and as I began returning to my room the front desk clerk approached me. This was odd because my room is on the 5th floor, and there is no one else to watch the front desk at that hour. "Steven!" he exclaims. "I'm glad to see you, I need your help." "My help?" I inquired, "what do you need?" "I'm having trouble contacting Adrian, and his door is locked." We approached Adrian's door, and he opened it with the hotels master key. The door was locked inside with a chain-guard, indicating Adrian must have been inside. "Can you see his reflection in the mirror," he asked, indicating the vanity mirror was just inside the door. I peered in as much as I could, but could not see anything. "I've tried calling him and his phone is busy," said the front desk clerk. I've known Adrian since I moved in to the hotel last August, and he was not the type of person to not answer his door. "I think you should call 911," I said. "If he was okay, he'd answer." (For those outside of America, "911" is a common number used to contact Paramedics during emergencies.) The front desk clerk agreed. He returned to the main floor, and I returned to my room with a bit of concern for Adrian. Within 5 minutes the Police arrived, and attempted to break into the room. The chain was holding quite well, and after some conversation it was realized that his room could be entered through the fire escape. So it was, and the police officer opened Adrian's door from inside the room and said "He's dead. He's been there for a while, rigor mortis has set in." Afterwards the front desk clerk had mentioned that he was working when Adrian returned home last night, around 11 p.m. Adrian passed at some point between then and the time he was found, and since rigor mortis was present, it's very likely it happened during the morning hours. I'm saddened by the loss of Adrian, but comforted due to the incredibly powerful surge of energy that was present that morning. I believe that Adrian was in need, and the energy flowed through to him, allowing him to attain a greater sate of consciousness than we can currently know. I believe that each of us, as Reiki Channels, no matter what "level" we may be, emanate and radiate Reiki energy 100% of the time. Even though we may not understand the Reiki process, even though we may be given brief glimpses of its potential, and though we may try to intellectualize and complicate it beyond necessity, I believe that Reiki will flow through us to those in need, as they need it. When they leave they always seem to be brighter, those that can talk (humans), say how much better,less tired/upset/emotional they feel in relation to what is going on in their lives, whilst the animals appear happier to me. I found my landlady dead in '97. I know the whole situation burns itself into your eyes (and nose) for quite a while. And now a strange story from this weekend: It's funny you mention the enormous bursts of energy that happen every now and then. I was showering last saturday morning. Not your everyday quick washing, but I was sitting on the shower floor, with my eyes closed, hands covering my ears. I began to see some strange figures. They looked like very dead corpses. One was still rotting, the other was just bones, but with way too many ribs. Scenes like that are not uncommon to me in meditation and I usually ignore em. But that day I did a little experiment. I gave the semi-fresh corps a white rose, the symbol for universal love. He took it and went away. Then the bone man. The minute he took the rose an enormous energy began to race through me. It was frighening. It went from my heart to...somewhere. But not just from my heart, it flowed at maximum strength from every pore... I panicked a bit...was it draining me? (I have had bad experiences with that before I got Reiki.) Or.. did the Reiki gods used me as a channel to heal the poor sodd. Didn't feel drained afterwards, just shaken from the panic. Still don't know what to think of it.
