What happened, happened. That was then, this is now. Happiness lies within, not without. Take a deep breath and let it out slowly. And again. Give yourself some Reiki. Repeat the 5 Reiki principles to yourself. Just be. Here. Now. There, there now. Feel better? :-) Yes, it is very difficult to understand hatred. Most of us are right in there with you. We can't fix all the hates and hurts and bad things in the world, but we can work on ourselves. You may want to take some time to look inside of yourself and try to discover what it was about this particular incident that upset you so (then again, you may just want to forget about it all together!). Sometimes by trying to understand yourself and your reactions a little better, it makes it easier to not be "sucked in" to those negative feelings the next time an incident happens. Typical stress reaction. What happens when someone reacts in fear. The biological "frieze to reduce attention and get muscles ready to flee or fight" reaction. I suppose driven by fear that this "dangerous animal" that sent that post could actually be near you and attack you. Of course totally useless fear, as that sender is most likely 1000s of miles away. The standard mass media problem. Seeing everything happening to billions of people in in 1000s of miles distance, by people whose evolutionary psychological mechanisms were made to react to things happening to 100s of people in a few miles radius. Result: many 1000s of times overreaction. > i will separate myself from this feeling and i hate to > give that stuff any attention at all, but i just felt compelled to share how > it makes me feel. Why do you hate to give it attraction? No more bad in that than in any other arbitrary time waste, such as watching news on TV. Just compare the time wasted on both. Which wastes more? Which is more worthy of stopping? > i guess because that kind of thing . . . that hate and > fear. . . creates such a separation. it indicates a feeling of such > aloneness and isolation on the part of the poster and i guess that > separation feeling rubbed off on me. That is the price of fear: lost opportunity to be with others. Protecting oneself from dangers (real or immagined) has its price. Which is why one should think over protective measures, particularly if they are intended to be lasting ones. People so badly hurt, that they are ruled by fear, don't do that, and end up so driven into themselves. > dont understand whether this person has some twisted agenda and just does > this to shock people, whether this person truly believes he is doing the > world a service or if this person is just disturbed and needs grouding, > balancing and a hell of a lot of love. Well, I did not read it, so I can not comment on this particular poster. But generally such posters are people who by the accidents and incidents of their lives have been mentally so mutilated, that they live in fear of their (real or immagined) enemies, and some are trying to send out an "warning", so that others do not fall prey to these enemies (no matter if this is really possible, the sender just needs to believe it). That is the basic hate mechanism: aggression->pain->selfdefence->fightback and often try to warn others. And in a world of billions of people, with 100s of millions on the net, there are enough screwed up people, whose cries of "warning" you will hear of. > i want to send > reiki but can't bring myself to. it just makes me feel yucky. Because you can not control your reaction to it. The best thing is to focus in one question: How much damage do you need to fear from that person? Answer: None, as he is way off somewhere else. Every time you have such an media induced fear reaction, ask yourself that question and focus on its answer. After a while the reaction will start to fade. Once that works, and you get rid of your strong reaction to it, then you can start doing something constructive, without your reaction getting in its way. Remember: We are all 2 parts, "the spirit in the animal". So long your animal rules, driven by its fears, your spirit can not make itsself heard, nor do any good. > . . . i guess i just want to understand what > doesn't make sense to me. . . . Which doesn't make sense to you: His hatred, or your reaction? Yes, both and I think I do understand them a bit better now. But it's interesting that the news doesn't instill that feeling in me. The news aggravates me on some level but I usually just make fun of how obvious the fear instilling crap is: "Is YOUR toothbrush putting your life in jeopardy!!??? find out at 11" it really is comical. but i guess i regard my computer differently than i regard my television. to read a post like that on a site that feels safe and ultimately positive feels like more of an intrusion to me i guess. what i do on the computer is interactive and therefore part of my life, whereas what i do when i turn on the tv news is just passive and not that significant. and when it irritates me i can turn it off. i can ignore stuff like those posts but outlook express doesn't give me the opportunity to "turn it off." my mind has to do that and i guess that is a little bit harder for me. i did get over that stuff as soon as i wrote my feelings about it by the way. that is what i have to do sometimes. i also just went on an on here and decided to delete it. . . not like me. thanks for your insights. ginger "Neil Franklin" wrote in message news:6u8yrzhyzm.fsf@chonsp.franklin.ch... > "gingerobyn" writes: > > > hateful sounding subject lines. that kind of thing feels like an awful > > intrusion. > > Well it is an intrusion. "people" are not still on it. i came across it unintentionally and others have provided some comfort/insight regarding the reaction it effected in me. perhaps someone can tell me how to view this newsgroup in some way other than using my outlook express? because what i see in my screen is a long list of subject lines and they are in bold if i haven't read them. it appears that i have about 30 days worth of topics listed from most recent to least recent. so in other words right smack in the middle of everything i see 3 bolded subjects lines that say things about conspiracy theory blah blah blah jews kill blah blah blah, and jews give biological weapons blah blah blah. i tried to ignore them even though they stood out among the ones that i read (no longer bold) and i was successful at avoiding them for 4 days but after reading "advice on starting a reiki practice" i clicked on "next" and accidentally opened what i had been actively avoiding. outlook express doesnt give me the option to delete. i didnt set this up for myself. a friend did and he told me "oh you can subscribe to newsgroups through this" and then showed me how. so that is how i found alt healing reiki, and that is the only context in which i know alt healing reiki. perhaps you can direct me differently. -ginger "Theo" wrote in message news:3EF14B1C.9CA4C761@ch.inter.net... > forget about it is a complicate thread and I am surprised people are > still on that .. > Theo > > Stuart Vernon wrote: > > > (gingerobyn) wrote: > > > > > I didnt mean to read the conspiracy theory stuff. > > > > I am completely at a loss as to what is being > > referred to in this thread ... You can mark threads to be followed or to be ignored, and you can delete them at will. There is a souped up form known as Agent that you have to purchase. Free Agent is good enough for me.
