Nowhere fancy, a church hall an organisation for Asian carers had hired. 7 people had 30 minutes each, sitting on chairs. Didn't "do" anything fancy. Just gentle touch on heads, shoulders, backs. The oldest person was well over 80, skin fragile as paper. Sheer beauty to touch, & for part of the session her Parkinson's tremors ceased. Someone went into "another world" & came back glowing. Someone else cried her heart out on my shoulder. Each one of the 7 said they felt better. Sometimes it was done with smiles when we didn't have sufficient shared words to speak. We didn't have any big dramas. No-one was instantly cured of anything physical. (Or at least if they were, they didn't crack on to me about it.) It was all plain, simple and in its way, miraculous. 7 times today, I've seen Reiki "work". Without question, without expectation, it delivered to each of those 7 people an experience of peace, tranquility, relief from care and many other things. Precisely what was needed. A 30 minute break each, just for "themselves", free of the need for that time to be at the service of anyone else's needs. And it was most wonderful. And a great privilege and pleasure to be able to witness too. I've no idea why I'm writing this. Maybe someone wants to read it. Maybe I just wanted to say I had a lovely day and thank you for it, this being as good a place to say so as any. Or how great it is to be able to see Reiki in action like this. I don't know. I'm sure we all tend (simply by reading these posts) to 'intellectualise' reiki. We examine it, turn it around, question it's beginnings, debate the 'truth' of it blah blah blah... What you have done is expressed, at least to me, why I choose to practice reiki.... for the simple, pure, loving joy it brings us all. I'm going now to ring a friend who has asked for reiki to invite her over - which I put off to read ahr! I think a lot of people are prisoners of their own ego and aren't willing (or able) to try to transcend it. They put their ego in the specific "brand name" of energy healing and as a result, devalue other "brand names". It's sad, really. I had hoped most people who perform energy healing would try to be beyond partisian bickering, but if your observations are correct (I don't yet know enough to be sure), most people either aren't trying or aren't having much luck at getting past that stage. I think a lot of spiritual belief systems emphasize transcending the ego for a reason. Too bad it's so difficult to do in practice (myself included). ###### Reply-To: "Steven Buck, CMT" From: "Steven Buck, CMT" Newsgroups: alt.healing.reiki References: Subject: Re: Back to Basics Lines: 42 Organization: http://www.metareiki.org X-Priority: 3 X-MSMail-Priority: Normal X-Newsreader: Microsoft Outlook Express 6.00.2800.1106 X-MimeOLE: Produced By Microsoft MimeOLE V6.00.2800.1106 Message-ID: <7LiX9.688$0x1.36857062@newssvr14.news.prodigy.com> NNTP-Posting-Host: 64.165.199.204 X-Complaints-To: abuse@prodigy.net X-Trace: newssvr14.news.prodigy.com 1043183683 ST000 64.165.199.204 (Tue, 21 Jan 2003 16:14:43 EST) NNTP-Posting-Date: Tue, 21 Jan 2003 16:14:43 EST X-UserInfo1: FKPO@SBE]JV_R_PYN[O@_WH@YR_B@EXLLBWLOOAFQATJUZ]CDVW[AKK[J\]^HVKHG^EWZHBLO^[\NH_AZFWGN^\DHNVMX_DHHX[FSQKBOTS@@BP^]C@RHS_AGDDC[AJM_T[GZNRNZAY]GNCPBDYKOLK^_CZFWPGHZIXW@C[AFKBBQS@E@DAZ]VDFUNTQQ]FN Date: Tue, 21 Jan 2003 21:14:43 GMT Path: chonsp.franklin.ch!pfaff.ethz.ch!news-zh.switch.ch!irazu.switch.ch!luth.se!c03.atl99!sjc70.webusenet.com!news.webusenet.com!wn11feed!wn14feed!worldnet.att.net!207.115.63.142!prodigy.com!newsmst01.news.prodigy.com!prodigy.com!postmaster.news.prodigy.com!newssvr14.news.prodigy.com.POSTED!9eb22389!not-for-mail Xref: chonsp.franklin.ch alt.healing.reiki:2629 Perhaps if we all did it the same way, there would not be as much opportunity for growth. I *think* I agree with you there, Steven ... if I understand you correctly .. ;) Certainly growth, evolution and development of techniques and varying ways in which to use Reiki are to be welcomed when presented within the Reiki ethos ... compare with the myriad systems evident a few years ago which had a commercial tag with promised "increased power" ... I suspect what Adrian is referring to is the practice as per the "original Reiki" .. [correct me if I'm wrong, Adrian] .. And which is fine ... Personally, I'm a KISS guy ... as Judy says "It works" ... Ahh Judy it is good to see this post. What you experienced is exactly what i have been teaching from the start, remember? "All you have to add is Nothing" Good on you woman. The Simple Truth is "Reiki is Simple" Today is my Birthday and the Official Anniversary of the First Free World Wide Singular Distant Attunement to Usui Reiki Master Teacher. Over the last several years, since introducing the Singular Attunement and the Free Singular Master Attunment, I have watched as many who were totally against such a concept finally accepted it as a valid proceedure and have begun to offer it both in person and distantly. I have watched many who received it grow into wonderful Reiki practitioners and create great informative sites as well. Sadly I have also watched the gift misused by some. I have seen many things added to Reiki over the years but there is One thing which I have not seen. And that my friends is simply this: I have not seen any variation of Reiki perform any more effectively than another. A Rose by any name is still a Rose. Today is a new beginning for me just as it is for you. What will you do with it, your new day?
