There's a resident in the next subdivision whose car carries the license plate JES ONE -- in the early 1990s this spawned a thread on VMSHARE wondering about its origin. A couple of years ago I found myself in a filling station at the same that the car came in, and asked the driver about it. The tag was (literally) an in-house joke and has no relationship to the computing world. At least mid-1990's it was thought that the longest running thread was "what's the longest running thread in a.f.c?". But then, maybe the latter's puckered out by now, leaving just the former.
