Its in good condition and works pretty well but has a couple broken wheels inside, limiting its effectiveness. We've looked around a bit for manuals/parts (doubtless a long shot...) without success. Is anyone aware of parts/info resources for these fascinating devices? Thanks, Gregm ###### From: Charles Eicher Newsgroups: alt.folklore.computers Subject: Re: Marchant multiplication/division machine Date: 10 Apr 2000 01:15:08 -0700 Organization: http://extra.newsguy.com Lines: 17 Message-ID: <8cs2ic$1m26@edrn.newsguy.com> References: NNTP-Posting-Host: p-054.newsdawg.com Path: chonsp.franklin.ch!pfaff.ethz.ch!news-zh.switch.ch!news-ge.switch.ch!news.maxwell.syr.edu!howland.erols.net!newsfeed.lotsanews.com.MISMATCH!pln-e!spln!extra.newsguy.com!newsp.newsguy.com!edrn Xref: chonsp.franklin.ch alt.folklore.computers:53909 In article , Greg says... > > >Hi, > >My father recently picked one up at a flea market. A web search would surely turn up a few hits, like: http://www.dotpoint.com/xnumber/marchant.htm http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Park/7227/ ###### From: "Greg Menke" Newsgroups: alt.folklore.computers Subject: Re: Marchant multiplication/division machine Date: Mon, 10 Apr 2000 09:12:26 -0400 Lines: 16 Message-ID: <8csk04$bh8$1@bob.news.rcn.net> References: <8cs2ic$1m26@edrn.newsguy.com> X-Trace: 1MFMPQSB29szfZIGFRQDZg7MvbIeyowB2lrhFyjrYLi0GbAoSOZAaA== X-Complaints-To: abuse@rcn.com NNTP-Posting-Date: 10 Apr 2000 13:12:36 GMT X-Newsreader: Microsoft Outlook Express 5.00.2615.200 X-MSMail-Priority: Normal X-Priority: 3 X-MimeOLE: Produced By Microsoft MimeOLE V5.00.2615.200 Path: chonsp.franklin.ch!pfaff.ethz.ch!news-zh.switch.ch!news-ge.switch.ch!feed2.news.luth.se!luth.se!feed1.news.rcn.net!rcn!not-for-mail Xref: chonsp.franklin.ch alt.folklore.computers:53905 > > A web search would surely turn up a few hits, like: > > http://www.dotpoint.com/xnumber/marchant.htm > > http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Park/7227/ > My search turned up the first but not the second, which is pretty interesting. Try the following URL: http://users.lewiston.com/two/office.html/office_m achine_americana.htm This site is run by Ernie Jorgenson, who used to be a Marchant repairman. He has copies of old Marchant manuals for sale, and may possibly have the parts you need. Good luck! Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.
