She's waiting for better times. :-) Actually, Magica is perfectly fine. I turned her on a few weeks ago just to check things. The problem is cooling in the computer room. So she's normally not on right now. Things are looking brighter at the horizon. In the same room as Magica is a VAX6440, along with something like 60 RA9x disks. That system will probably be shut down in a not too distant future. This means we'll get some cooling back. :-) I'm also hoping to upgrade the memory system to reduce the heat production. Anyway. I'd be surprised if Magica is the oldest. She's just a modern pdp-11/70 after all. Running RSX-11M-PLUS V4.5 at the moment, but I suspect I should upgrade to 4.6. :-/ Johnny -- Johnny Billquist | johnny.billquist@netinsight.net Net Insight AB | phone: +46 8 685 04 88 Västberga Allé 9 | fax: +46 8 685 04 20 Box 42093 | SE-126 30 STOCKHOLM, Sweden | http://www.netinsight.net ###### Message-ID: <38A917F5.3BC0F183@netinsight.se> From: Johnny Billquist Organization: Netinsight AB X-Mailer: Mozilla 4.5 [en] (X11; I; Linux 2.2.14 i686) X-Accept-Language: en MIME-Version: 1.0 Newsgroups: alt.folklore.computers Subject: Re: Oldest running internet connected machine? Crap-I.Update.UU.SE is a PDP-8/i, which also have been on the internet. The machine is working fine, but for the same reason as Magica, Crap-I isn't connected either. We might set that up again once we have Magica running. Hmmm. pdp-8/i brings us back to 1968 I think. Hey! That predates the internet. :-) Johnny -- Johnny Billquist | johnny.billquist@netinsight.net Net Insight AB | phone: +46 8 685 04 88 Västberga Allé 9 | fax: +46 8 685 04 20 Box 42093 | SE-126 30 STOCKHOLM, Sweden | http://www.netinsight.net ###### Newsgroups: alt.folklore.computers From: atlas@world.std.com (Alexander R Svirsky) Subject: Re: Oldest running internet connected machine?
