I have written several parts dealers with no success. If not, does anyone know the names and models of some calculators that used the 4004 chip. Maybe I can I purchase the calculator to get the chip. More interestingly, the 4004 had very few transistors when compared to modern computers. I bet it would be rather easy to fit it on an FPGA, or the like. Of course, it still wouldn't run like it were made in 10-micron PMOS. On the subject of old processors, it would be really neat to see at the gate- level what was done in several old microprocessors. The architectures are ancient anyway, so the documentation could be made available for academic purposes. There's one particular processor I'm thinking of - the old NMOS 6502, which presumably had all sorts of don't-care conditions in the instruction decode. This resulted in "undocumented instructions", which are of course by now quite well documented. It would be interesting to know the exact logic combinations which resulted in these instruction mappings. -- /* Sam Laur slaur@utu.fi */ /* Carpe noctem! Bay). If memory serves, I've seen it on their catalog. Or it could have been the 8060 I saw... Ben
