Part II of the FAQ, not included in the web site, is a history of computers. Indeed, I've been off the group for a while. Partly this was because the group had turned mostly into an advocacy group in disguise, and partly because I did not have enough time to follow it. In any case, I can return to post the FAQ here (or at least a TOC and links) every now and then, if there's interest. I'll also accept any suggestions on new items (the book list is waaaaay outdated, for instance) and corrections. Send them to wilson@best.com or wilson@zaz.com.br. > Part II of the FAQ, not included in the web site, is a history of computers. If > there is any interest, I'll post the whole thing. Actually, part II is included in the site, at http://www.best.com/~wilson/faq/chrono.html -Wilson ###### From: jvarela@mind.spring.com (John Varela) Newsgroups: alt.folklore.computers Subject: Re: FAQ - word from the custodian Date: 29 Oct 1998 01:12:16 GMT Organization: MindSpring Enterprises Lines: 30 Message-ID: References: <36376981.BA29BB32@best.com> Reply-To: jvarela@mind.spring.com NNTP-Posting-Host: user-37kbm4f.dialup.mindspring.com Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit X-Newsreader: ProNews/2 Version 1.00 Path: chonsp.franklin.ch!pfaff.ethz.ch!news-zh.switch.ch!news-ge.switch.ch!newscore.univie.ac.at!uninett.no!news-feed1.eu.concert.net!newsfeed.cwix.com!4.1.16.34!cpk-news-hub1.bbnplanet.com!news.news.gtei.net!firehose.mindspring.com!not-for-mail On Wed, 28 Oct 1998 18:59:13, Wilson Roberto Afonso wrote: > John Varela wrote: > > It hasn't been updated in three years and the custodian doesn't seem to post > > here much anymore. > > Indeed, I've been off the group for a while. There does appear to be that. I mentioned deep in another thread that I had an old FAQ and got a request for it, which prompted me to start this new thread. Incidentally, it's a great FAQ. Kind of out of date re Y2K, though. -- John Varela (delete . between mind and spring to e-mail me)
