Its an older VAX machine. May have up to 16M of ram. may use SCSI for the disks. If you don't know VMS, you probably don't want one... If you want to use DOS/Windows, forget it. On the other hand, if you're interested in *real* computers, go for it (if they're not asking too much, that is) This is one of the better VAXstations around that you're likely to find for a reasonable price. In terms of performance, its KA43 cpu is probably equivalent-ish to a 486, or with regard to the VAX range, it's rated at 7.6 VUPS (hence the tag "M76"), about the same as the very large 8650 installations available in the '80s! It can be fitted with up to 32MB of memory (although the SIMMS *must* be the slightly tricky to find 80ns variety), and has 2 SCSI channels, an internal and an external one. There isn't really any limitation as to what SCSI devices may be attached, as long as they're 8 bit, and the boot drive must be no larger than 1GB. Since you'll want to run some software on it (assuming you don't just want a fancy bookend!) it runs VMS, and if this comes with a Motif licence you can use that nice SPX graphics card (1280x1024, 8 bit colour), or alternatively you can install NetBSD UNIX on it. It doesn't run Ultrix. Chris.
