You get some spam from usenix.org talking about "LISA-NT". Your first thought is, "Microsoft must have kidnapped a few Real Programmers to pull that one off. I wonder if a version will be released for my 128k Mac?" It turns out LISA-NT stands for Large Installation Systems Administration of Windows NT conference. Also in the same message, the acronym SAGE is used. Again, not what first came to mind... Their definition of SAGE is Systems Administrators Guild. Along with SAGE, they have a panel on "Windows NT Intrusion Detection and Handling". Neat coincidence. What is SAGE really supposed to stand for, anyways? (if anything) Such a system built today using Microsoft software would make the whole WOPR scare seem trivial by comparison. ###### Path: ccw.ch!elna.ethz.ch!news-zh.switch.ch!news-ge.switch.ch!news.maxwell.syr.edu!news.cis.ohio-state.edu!news.anet-stl.com!not-for-mail From: Jim Everman Newsgroups: alt.folklore.computers Subject: Re: YKYBHTLW... The SAGE (Semi Automatic Ground Environment) System, for those too young to remember it, was the first (or at least, one of the earliest) attempts to integrate computers and radars into a semi automated air defense/air traffic control system.
