The idea for this project came from Andreas Freise. He wanted to show others how Ascii artist draw Ascii art images. The first movie showing the creation of "tshilp" is online now and can be viewed at: http://www.jave.de/player/demo1.html Have a look at it - it is fascinating. Create such movies is very simple when using Jave for drawing Ascii art. There is only one thing you have to do when finished drawing the image: chose Menu->File->Save As Jave Movie. - That's all. You can view this movie in the Jave Player. The Jave Player is an open source Java applet. For more information about the Player, the Jave Movie format etc. have a look at: http://www.jave.de/player/index.html Some days ago there was a message in this ng with a link to a julia set cgi-script. I have played around with Jave, the new Jave Movie Format and some algorithms and that's what came out: http://www.jave.de/player/demo2.html It is a Jave Movie where you can see the famous Mandelbrot set in ascii. Have fun, Markus PS: Don't forget to tell me what you think about it PPS: This project is very very new and there is not very much documentation at the moment. The Jave Player is not worked out very well. So if you're into Java programming, why not have a look at it. Do you mean the line thickness or the character width? It looks fine here in Netscape 4.77 although it hangs when playing because of a bug in Netscape's VM. It runs properly in Mozilla with the java plugin from the Blackdown jdk 1.3. > You wouldn't happen to know a workaround or fix for that, would you? If you have a jdk or jre >= 1.1 installed the appletviewer might be better. If your netscape is old it could be that it doesn't recognise `Monospaced' as a font name, you could try changing it to `Courier' in JavePlate.java line 113. If your problem is the character width this applet might be usefull: http://www.dmriley.demon.co.uk/tmp/fonttest.html (it will print the character widths for the `Monospaced' and `Courier' fonts). -- David Riley dave@dmriley.demon.co.uk ObAscii: no such file or directory core dumped ###### From: "Janne Raevaara" Newsgroups: alt.ascii-art Subject: Re: New Ascii Movies + open source viewer Date: Sat, 16 Jun 2001 13:25:10 +0300 Organization: Kolumbus Internet Services Customer Lines: 9 Message-ID: <9gfbr9$8m2$1@news.kolumbus.fi> References: <3B279586.E9CD58FD@rz.uni-karlsruhe.de> <9gcg03.3vvpf45.1@MK.kasperhausen.de> NNTP-Posting-Host: ui229i9hel.dial.kolumbus.fi X-Priority: 3 X-MSMail-Priority: Normal X-Newsreader: Microsoft Outlook Express 5.00.2615.200 X-MimeOLE: Produced By Microsoft MimeOLE V5.00.2615.200 Path: chonsp.franklin.ch!pfaff.ethz.ch!news-zh.switch.ch!newsfeed-zh.ip-plus.net!news.ip-plus.net!news.tesion.net!news.belwue.de!news-stu1.dfn.de!news-koe1.dfn.de!news-fra1.dfn.de!news.tele.dk!194.213.69.151!news.algonet.se!newsfeed1.telenordia.se!algonet!newsfeed1.funet.fi!newsfeeds.funet.fi!news.kolumbus.fi!not-for-mail Xref: chonsp.franklin.ch alt.ascii-art:19680 > You are right!
