Probably never as much. These days with ISO 8859-1 being the standard for Web browsers and the Web being everywhere one might consider using these symbols in one's art as well. But in browsers you can already integrate graphics through images. That is how it will be with GUIs capable of displaying Unicode, too. If you want to do it as a hobby, feel free. It'll probably not have any useful application, though, like the ascii-art flowcharts in the RFC-documents. If you do something for dumb text terminals the safest bet is do stick to ascii. Modern standards for modern displays have rendered graph- ics-thru-text contortions obsolete, though. -- ___ __ __ "Muscles of All Limbs, Unite! / _ / _( ) You Have Nothing to Lose But Your Sinews." Apparently linguists wanted it for typing Tengwar into sholary articles about Tolkiens writings. Then there are the Tolkien fans who would just love to make their multilingual English/Quenya home pages (if I just had bit more time...) with Quenya written in Tengwar. > It's all neat, but I just can't see Unicode > taking over anything, Actually it has a good chance anywhere where ISO-8858-1 does not fit and poeple are getting annoyed with broken software which does not switch fonts properly when text with different extended characters comes along.
