I've been looking at ascii art samples on the web and I've noticed that they are enclosed either in
 tag or tag.
Just out of curiosity, are there any other HTML tags that are used to
display ascii art?

Thank you.

Yun.

You should not use <xmp> (it is deprecated).

Why would you want that? Isn't one tag enough for you? ASCII art is
preformatted text, and <pre> is the html tag to use for that.

It means "you shouldn't use it". :-)

http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40/conform.html#deprecated

A deprecated element or attribute is one that has been
outdated by newer constructs. Deprecated elements are
defined in the reference manual in appropriate locations,
but are clearly marked as deprecated. Deprecated elements
may become obsolete in future versions of HTML.

No, <tt> won't work. At least not reliably. Sure, you'll get a
monospaced font with <tt> but the text won't be "fixed" and may wrap if
the window is too small.
