filesystem additions
/adm is debian:/export/etc, install tools
/adm/etc is debian:/export/etc/<>/<host> writable, system backup from /etc
/afs is n.ethz AFS Server, via arla
/amd is at request appearing BSD automount target for /net
/home/<user> is SysV autofs user homes
/misc1 is debian:/export/misc1, a continuation of /pub
/net/<host>/<exportfs> is BSD automount <host>:/<exportfs> directory
/pub is debian:/export/pub, export of Software, incl Debian packages
/scratch is temp space everywhere, with chmod 1777 and NFS export
/usr/pack is SysV autofs for SEPP packages

install process server preparation
root@sarapis(=debian) mkdir /export/etc/<dept>/<hostname>
  copy an other host, adapt XF86Config and Xserver, check over config
  delete config.tar.bz2, df, fdisk-l, myselection, pkglist-local, ssh*
  /etc/dfs/dfstab for Host /export/etc/<dept>/<hostname> rw export, shareall
  /etc/netgroup add host, /root/dist-netgroup.sh to distribute


install process client build
bootdisk is a minixfs with LILO, is an one time Slackware
  online as /pub/debian-dphys/i386/boot.img
    and unpacked in /pub/debian-dphys/i386/boot
  /bzImage, /etc/lilo.conf, /boot, /dev/*
  lilo.conf: boot = /dev/fd0, image = /bzimage, ramdisk = 49152
    root = /dev/fd0, append = "load_ramdisk=1 prompt_ramdisk=1"
rootdisk is gzip-tes RAM-Disk Image, also one time Slackware
  online as /pub/debian-dphys/i386/root.img.gz
    and unpackt in /pub/debian-dphys/i386/root
  uses busybox to sae space
    /bin/mount is not from busybox because it does not knoe NFS
  minimal /etc/inittab fetches /etc/rc
  /etc/rc loads modules, sets hostname and IP
    is a Slackware, recognizable from /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1
  login as root without password
  run (/sbin/)setup script, offers menu
    "1 Power workstation" runs then /sbin/setup1
    "2 Server" runs then /sbin/setup2
  both use /sbin/setup-dialog for fetching config parameter
    sets variables HOST, KBD, TARGET, HOST, IP, MASK, GW, FLOPPY, CDROM, ZIP
    does hostname, ifconfig, route, and seaches for DNS server
  /sbin/setup1 further with sfdisk partitionee, mke2fs formated
    mkdir mountpoints, mount debian:/export/adm and debian:/export/pub
    fetch then Debian minimal system from /pub/debian-dphys/i386/init.tar
      this is also unpacked in /pub/debian-dphys/i386/init
      here comes the distri change Slackware->Debian
    sets up keyboard, creates fstab, creates /etc/network/interfaces
    creates lilo.conf, fetch from /adm/share/root/ldapws /etc/init.d and rc*.d
      are the only config, should have als had others, such as mobile
    umount all, reboot with init 6
  /sbin/setup2 further with sfdisk partitionee, mke2fs formated
    different filesystem layout with lesspPartitions, extended empty
    mkdir mountpoints, other mountpoints fitting to partitions
    mount debian:/export/adm and debian:/export/pub
      fetch then Debian minimal system from /pub/debian-dphys/i386/init.tar
    sets up keyboard, creates fstab, creates /etc/network/interfaces
    creates lilo.conf, no LILO password (WS have password)
    fetched from /adm/share/root/ldapws /etc/init.d and rc*.d
    umount all, reboot with init 6
now standard Debian inittab, with additional rc2.d/S20mysetup -> init.d/..
  init.d/mysetup then in "start" calls /adm/bin/kupdate and /adm/bin/setup
  /adm/bin/kupdate tests if nee kernel, fetches/installs, then /sbin/reboot
  /adm/bin/setup used is only nfs version
    does /adm/libexec/all/nfsprep-debian and /adm/libexec/all/setup-debian
  nfsprep-debian makes directories, fstab completion, nfs mount
    alternalte /adm/libexec/all/mobile-debian-down and -up would have rsync-ed
  setup-debian completes the work depending on /adm/etc/config
    install /adm/share/root/ldapws-potato/ over the installation
    ssh Hostschluessel generate, div files from /adm/etc, create /etc/hosts
    authorized_keys and sshd_config, motd, exports, LDAP, dpkg initialise
    apt-get packages install, chmod 662 in /dev, /etc/alternatives, AFS
    vmware Lizenz, wdm, Printer setup and printcap, crontab, linux logo
    fvwm2 config, backup config as it is now, fdisk -l
    new /adm/etc/config, myinstall signal to mywdm, xconsole
  continues then with normal Debian boot, after S20mysetup

operation of client
cron /etc/cron.daily/dphys
  calls daily again /adm/bin/setup, to get up to the newest state

spezialities in system
NFS runs everywhere
  server /export/... controlled open by netgroup
  clients no /export, only /scratch in exportfs hardwired for their subnet
NIS only used for NFS access rights, for netgroup map
  /etc/netgroup created on sarapis, distributed to all servers
LDAP used for passwd and group
  /etc/ldap.conf, sets up also pam_filter objectclass=phdUser
    per machine only one, gives it an class, user must have that
  also still nsswitch.conf  passwd: files ldap  group: files ldap
  and pam.d/ in kda/login/screen/ssh*/su/wdm/xock/xscreensaver
    add the pam_ldap.so module
